Hello everyone,

Since I have started in September,09. I have never stopped sending my assignment within a two weeks period, and have not receive any grade below a 100% in all my assignment I have submitted. I am a hard working young man who works from 11:00 - 20:00 every day except Saturday and Sundays. I got a family of two young ladies ages 7 and 14 years and my wife. I have study in the field of PC and Networking before in which I achieved an advance diploma in Networking 2 and 3 level. I also did MCSE and award my diploma certificate. I shown great interest in my course and looking forward to sitting the A+ and N+ pretty soon, before the year finishes.

I don't know if this count as an achievement (for me it is). I am still studying CompTIA a+. Recently I built 3 PCs from scratch and helped few others to fix their. My answer on a PC problem was chosen as best answer by the Yahoo! user as the solution to their problem. My technical knowledge is increasing day by day thanks to Skills Train team.

I am very pleased with my work progress because the results of my Assignments always between the scores 95% and 100%. I have also learnt a lot about IT especially problems that I never knew how to sort before I started the course. I used to take my computer to an IT shop to sort out these problems whenever I encounter one. But today I am able to solve these problems by myself.

Since starting my ccna studies on 17/4/10, I have managed to complete the whole of
Section 1 Part A CCENT by 23/410. Also each TMA obtaining results of 100% bar a couple scoring in the 90% range. This is despite a lot of external pressures. I am currently in the process of being made redundant from work and have a very heavy workload and more than average hours, in process of looking for new job, supporting family members who have been diagnosed with serious health issues and trying to keep myself motivated in life due to all these events. I have found the course to be a way of taking my mind off all my problems and when I start, I get a very keen interest, sometimes wanting to expand on the material given by researching other means.

When I started the course in April I had a general knowledge of the material but this was enhanced with every tma submitted. The knowledge gained in the last week has enabled me to help friend's pc issues where they were otherwise going to be charged by professional technicians. In my work also, where we give very basic AV support of the phone, the material on subnets etc. has enabled me to advice my trainers on the new internet TV they are releasing. This gave me a tremendous amount of pride. 'Me advising the people who were meant to be training me'.

For example in a coaching session, our trainer asked if anyone knew what DHCP was with regards to internet capable TV's, the audience and himself were amazed when I answered ‘It is a protocol that dynamically allocates ip address's to individual hosts from a pool of private address's on a lease basis with certain parameters like lease time, configurable from the defaults if required', I briefly described also how every host needs an IP address to connect to a TCP/IP network. There were a few shocked looks and the trainer took me aside afterwards and advised he had no idea of this and simply expected someone to comment that it meant the customer didn't have to find and input the internet details from his ISP if it was enabled. He mentioned me to his boss who gave me a bottle of wine, and advised they were considering asking me to head a small group to help any other colleagues with internet TV troubleshooting.

In 2005 I wanted to study for it (information technology), but I spent my valuable time planning to study rather than joining a course and actually going for it. In 2008 I joined an IT course with skillstrain and since I have achieved two certificates (a+ and n+).
And I did not succeed in the first go, but I never gave up. Now I am working on the CCNA part of the course. I wish I had started in 2005. My message to students in any field is that, when you want something don't waste your time just go for it. If you find yourself trapped in the corner and feel that you are stuck, there are wide range of solutions available on the internet. All you have to do is search for the solutions and the answers. Finally I'd like to say is that if you are really determined about doing something in life nothing can hold you back, just be hungry for it and you will certainly achieve it.

After completing CompTIA A+ and N+ exams I've applied for a job as a Tech Support
Engineer at a quite big company and I've been offered a job after the first interview. I've been working there only four months but after passing recently the first of MCSA exams 70-270 and letting my manager know about it I've been offered a pay rise and a possible promotion after successful completion of MCSA course.

So far during my learning I have achieved the following,

I have studied a lot of the material for A+ and even though I haven't done many TMA'S yet I feel I'm not too far away from being able to pass an exam.

During my studying I've built and sold an i7 watercooled pc, custom sprayed and etched. I've not just built another quad pc which is peltier cooled and at the same time I'm serving with the armed forces, of which most of the month I have been out in the field training with weapon handling and so on.

I now have that much experience with computers that I could put them together blind folded and really enjoy making them.

Thanks

Though currently not an achievement, it is a step in the right direction. I recently applied for an internal role within the telecoms company that I work for to move from back office admin over to our Voice and Data faults team for customers.

Unfortunately I did not get the role this time, but this was due more to not having hands on experience on dealing with faults but I was praised highly for the knowledge that I had in regards to computers and how broadband works. This is something I would never have hoped to try and apply for if it was not for taking the PA course (CompTIA A+, N+ and MCSA).

I am about to arrange with the manager of the faults area to spend some time over there to listen in and have a try of the faults to get the hands on experience needed until I am able to apply again.

So thanks Skills Train for giving me the confidence to apply for a role that previously I thought was not possible.

I have started doing all of my coursework and am now on track to hopefully pass with flying colours I am ahead of what I can submit as I have completed the work book and am now submitting all of my assignments. I am set on working for myself and have built a website and have made business cards and have been doing the occasional work on friends and families computers to help build my practical experience. http://phoenixcomputermaintenance.bravehost.com/ this is a link to my website.

I hope you see what I have done as, as much of an achievement as I do.

Thanks for reading

My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.

I am so thankful to everyone at skillstrain to be there all the way to my achievement and passing my exam. I have passed and got my career ID and certificate from CompTIA.

Thank you skillstrain.

Just to let you know I passed my CompTIA Network+ 2009 edition exam on May 27 2010. I passed this exam even though I am a single parent bringing up two young sons, one of which is disabled.

This month I have worked really hard to achieve a good mark in each of my Tma's!

I have spent at least 8 hours a day studying the course material provided, and watching related videos online!

With moving house and job searches I feel I have learnt a lot and achieved a lot!

Despite the temptation of watching the World Cup I have managed to study a lot and submit many TMAs this month.

Following redundancy then getting back into work...that now is very demanding and now involves a great deal of time abroad...I have finally achieved the goal of restarting my assignments ....one which with the current work load is for me a mile stone and a great accomplishment....

This month I dedicated myself to studying the course and always was prepared to answer the questions for the next assignment. I have never been able to study this well before, and I have started to enjoy the course more.

I feel proud that I was able to complete the Section 1 - A within such a short time frame. Although I had to resubmit some TMA's I felt happy when I got feedback from tutors and was able to achieve higher marks on the following submitted TMAs.

Using the skills I have gathered from Section 1 - A, I have already been able to implement some of this at my work place.

Thanks Scott and Andrew for your support and marking my assignments promptly, I have been able to progress and remain focused on my course with your help.

Regards

I feel that in the last month I have achieved more than I thought possible whilst looking after my 9 week old baby. I got 100% for my last assignment which I am very proud of. I thought I would struggle with my course now I have a baby to look after but I now feel more confident I can get through it if I just keep working hard.

I have just passed the A+ and awaiting my certificate, studying 7 days a week for my N+ so that I can progress and start my new business. The course has inspired me to deliver a better user experience for my family and potential customers. I have just set up a 10 Computer Network for a friend who has a business selling grooming product all over the UK. I am so glad that I could assist his business.

All thanks to the A+.
