Web Designer (CIW) Course Certification Reviews
I believe what the mind of man can conceive, mind of man can achieve it. Also I know that life is a trial that I cannot avoid. Let me face it now with all my effort so as to win the battle. I am steadily progressing on the course. I am in charge to determine my speed. Even though, I am a young father to a 6 months old baby boy, on a diploma course at Impact Int College also supervising my Comptia N+ program. Thats not all, at job I am doing 60 hours a week. I am determine to push ahead with CIW, Even if I should drop all other courses I am doing. The fact that skills Training has given the confidence and the necessary support, I feel I can do it and I will do it. The course material of Skills Training has given me the real taste of IT that I could not get from other esterblishments I have gone or going through. I must confess. I am sure in six months time I will become an expert in the the field.

This last year has been the worse, deaths in the family, best friend murdered and loosing my job....before all that I felt my IT skills were on a good level but over the last couple of month "skills train" hasn't just helped me brush up on my IT skills but also helped me take my mind away from all other things going on. Which has made me see a bright future with qualifications I could get from the course.
Thank you skills train and all you students who make skills train possible.

I'm doing the CIW Website Manager course. When I started I had no idea how much I would learn. I work in IT as a system developer at present but often felt I was scratching the surface and was always worried that I didn't know enough to justify my position.
My work is specialised in one area and therefore this course has given me an invaluable insight to many other areas. I now feel I can hold my own in IT meetings and when working with end users.
Over the last month I have been able to integrate more fully with the IT team in my office, have been able to set up new users, patch users into our network and understand more about the network and server issues we deal with day to day.
I have over the last year or so found it incredibly difficult to keep on top of the work. I am married, working full time and have 2 children under the age of 6 which needless to say keeps me relatively busy. On top of that I am currently being treated for depression (post-natal) so at times things are difficult. The pressure at work is also extreme at times as our company is expanding and growing at an alarmingly fast rate! Despite all this I have managed this last month or two to pick myself up and get my head down to get on with the work. I am currently working on the revision assignments for service administration part B and I must say that I find these particularly useful and interesting as they encourage you to think more about the topic than just learn to answer multiple choice. The knowledge I have gained over the last month has been excellent and I must give thanks to the tutors and skillstrain for making IT so much more interesting and approachable! Thank you for everything and I can't wait to get started on Unit 4!.

When I first started the course I read through the first few pages and found it hard to take so much in and remember it all as well. Therefore, I started again from the beginning and took each objective and its contents one at a time. I read and wrote notes. If I didn't understand any words, I used a dictionary, then put it in my own words and I found by doing it in this way was the best way to learn it thoroughly.
This was the best achievement of all as all the hard work paid off by being able to do TMA 01 without struggling with any questions. This was shown in my result for this assignment of 100%. This to me was an achievement to be proud of.

Throughout the last month I have undertaken and passed exams 1D0-510 and 1DO-435. I am extremly proud of this achievement, especially as I have had to put in long hours in my current job as well as keep my studies going. I have also gained my first client, who is employing me to design a web site for their organisation!

Firstly, I like to thank my tutor team for their quick responses to my emails even before I submitted my first TMA.
Since I registered for this training, I have notice an immense change in my IT skills. Prior to this training, as an administrator, I was able to use word processor, access, excel, powerpoint presentation, search the internet, use email etc. However, I never knew what Caches (emptying the cache ensures most current pages are loaded and also frees more disk spaces etc) and how to set Cookie handling (cookies: small text files - now knows how to view my Temporary Internet Filesetc) were, never knew the advantages of avoiding others seeing sites you had visited (deleting items on the history folder or setting number of days or weeks this can be seen etc), mostly if you are using your office pc, and how to define MIME-type definition for unknown files. I have also learnt that as I search for information on the internet, some times viewing pictures were not necessary , I disable the pictures on the pc (launch Internet Explorer/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced/Multimedia/Deselect Show Pictures), I noticed that my system runs faster and of course, I reverse this process as soon as I end my session. I have also used various ways to download files which I never knew before. Right now most of my downloads are done using the Internet Explorer FTP client (very practical for my training). I also never knew the various levels of security/privacy that existed or hw to set them.
All in all, I have learnt so much in a very short period of time and not just learning these but I am using what I have learnt so far to very good effect both at home and at work.
I often study late at night, sometimes I start from about 10 or 11pm till about 2 or 3am, this is a very nice quite time for me to assimilate better. I am enjoying this training and can not praise your training styles enough.
This training is a big challenge and so far it has been wonderful.Thank you.

I HAVE COMPLETED 3 TMA'S ALREADY AND ONLY HAVE BEEN STUDYING FOR ABOUT A MONTH, DID WELL ON MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT AS I RECEIVED 100%, NOT SO WELL ON MY SECOND THOUGH AS I ONLY HAD 76%,I HAVN'T HAD RESULTS BACK FOR MY THIRD ASSIGNMENT YET BUT I'M FEELING PRETTY CONFIDENT ON THIS ONE AS I STUDIED EXTREMELY HARD AND THEREFORE I BELIEVE I HAVE PAST THIS ONE WITH FLYING COLOURS.

This month has not been the easiest of months to study for me; I would actually say it has been the hardest so far. Normally I am able to go through a part of the course and only have to read through the parts that I didn't fully understand again, but, nope not this month, I have had to go through all of it three and sometimes even four times to understand it, how it all fits together and how it runs as a program.
I would like to say that I love the style of presentations; reinforcement notes and Post Assessment Test, all of these are unbelievably helpful when it comes to submitting a PLTMA. I am proud and excited about being part of such a great IT learning centre, which includes a team devoted to helping me to succeed not only with my course but within the I.T. industry.
I would like to express my thanks to the SkillsTrain entire team for a fantastic job.
Thanks for all of your support.

I am a mature student and all already a programmer in a number of languages I felt that I was shy on my networking knowledge and again although I have written WEB pages before I had never managed to get to grips with JavaScript.
During this month I have completed Section 2 Part A - Javascript Fundamentals and now have a good understanding of the benefits and shortcomings of the language with a pass rate of 90% and above my network knowledge has similarly been improved in previous elements of the course and I am hopeful of further improvements as the course progresses.
Despite my dyslexia I have found the course notes easy to follow and has enabled me to begin to read JavaScript code which previously had been a mystery to me.

I am studying full time, and also working 5 nights per week so I really do not have too much time for myself. I was on holidays in the US last month and saw people reading and doing some work in inter-states commuters. My job is about 30 miles from Manchester, and at the beginning of June(when I returned from the US) I decided to be taking my work with me in the bus or go the American way. During all the 2 hours journey with the Stagecoach, I am now reading and this gives extra 10 hours on my normal working time. It has already yielded some results as I have just secured 100% in TMA 05 and 06. With this new strategy I shall secure more 100% in the future.

I'm currently studying at home around my one year old daughter, which usually means just being able to study in the evenings! As soon as she goes to bed I start and try to complete as much as I can in the few hours I have spare. In the last 3 weeks I have completed 3 TMA's, 90% on the first, 80% on the second with the third being marked at the moment. I'm keeping motivated by checking the IT Job Sites every now and then too, its keeping me focused and its great to see and imagine just how different our future could be in just a short time if I can carry on speeding through my studies.

This months been a really tough one, but I have still managed to achieve exceptional results on my tutor marked assignments and have just completed all of section 1 of my course....I moved to Birmingham from Plymouth in August last year, so that my boyfriend could find work after finishing Uni. It was hard leaving all our family and friends behind and having to start a new life up here...so this month we decided to take a break down to Plymouth for the week to see everyone. However while we were there I had some heartbreaking news, my grandad passed away. I was already upset as I realised how much I had missed being with my family and friends and then finding out my grandad had died I was heartbroken. My Grandad was a great man he always believed in me, even when others didn't. Even though I have been really upset I have found that getting on with my course has really taken my mind off things and I feel more determined then ever to do well and look forward to the day that I have passed all my exams and can get the job I've always dreamed of.

Hi all well what can I say.......
When I first applied for a web course I didn't hear anything until a month or so later in which time I had forgot all about it, when I got the call to say someone would be round to see me I was nervous and excited...what if they think I can't do it will I be able to pay all these this went round in my head and having suffered with depression for over 7 years you get a bit paranoid..anyway when he came round within 10mins I felt right at ease as he explained the course to me and what they expected of me....sounded great anyway 2 hours later he made a call and I got a course E-COMMERCE PROJECT MANAGER and only wanted to do web design but after speaking to me he said it would suit me so I said OK he knew I have a few major operations coming up and wanted something I could still do from home when I have my long recoveries.....he gave me the folder and went, I left it till the next day to look at as I was still on cloud 9.
When I looked at I thought on my god I can't do this but I got stuck in and studied hard didn't help that my computer keeps breaking down maybe I should of done pc repairer ha ha at first I rushed it as wanted to do it quickly but had to re-do a couple of TMA'S that will teach me so now I take my time and read everything twice and have completed my first section and just received my second folder im so proud of my self and the tutors have be great if I could pat myself on the back I would so to people who have just started don't look and think you can't do it YOU can and don't rush it's not a race and it's not worth it having to take the test again, good luck to everyone doing a skill's train course.

Between the 4th of April and the 17th of April I completed the first 5 tmas and would have completed more but I don't have a floppy drive and a lot of the stuff sent to me with the frontpage section is on floppy disc.

When I started this course I only had a basic understanding of computers but doing this course has helped me alot. I am a single mother of two and never got a good education due to having my son at the age of 15 so I am so happy to finally get my life back on track, I never thought I would get the results that I have. Life can only get better know.

When I started this course I just came out of the Hospital with a very serious infection in my kidneys .I was looking for a course I could study from home which would make it easier for me,then I recieved a flyer from skilltrain I had a look at it and I found that web designer was the most interesting subject to me.I didn't know a lot about computers but now with this course I am learning a lot. This course has saved me because of the nature of my disability I cannot go out on the buses and trains to the Universities. I can study from my own home and copping with my disability in the mean time. Studying harder has improved my assigment a lot. Skillstrain is the Training to success.

Last week I submitted my first TMA, I had been struggling to take in the vast amount of info involved in this course and had even pondered giving up but I got my head down and studied till I felt comfortable with this info. So I submitted my TMA and the results came back at 100%, I couldn't believe it. This has now giving me the confidence to power through, and I shall be ready for my second TMA very shortly. Thanks to my tutor for the help. Top notch.
-Thomas
I achieved a fantastic result in my 1st and second TMA I put my 100% effort into each TMA and achieved the goal I wanted I am now really pleased with my self considering I didn't know much about IT before I started the course and now I understand everything from TCP/ISP servers to know how email programmes work. Having to complete the CIW course I am also a student at college doing A levels I recently took my examinations and received the grades I wanted
- A in Law
-Pass in citizenship
- C/C in Health + social Care
Doing two things at once has put me under a lot of pressure but I have put my mind to both things and have and definitely will work to the best of my ability to succeed at passing my exams at college and completing the CIW course fully and successfully.

This training is potentially life changing for me. In 1993 I was rushed to hospital with meningitis, and I haven't been able to work since. The last 14 years have been a battle to return to some level of health as my brain, immune system, and energy were severely affected by the virus. Progress has been slow, learning to read again, gradually increasing my activity levels, trying new medicines and supplements - and there have been many setbacks along the way. Finally, I've managed to get into a position where I'm reliably able to concentrate for a few hours per day, so it's time to start getting some work skills back in place and try to change my life situation. My aim is to earn enough working from home to set me free from the state benefit system.
I started the CIW Website Design Manager course about 9 weeks ago, and I'm so excited to be learning again. I'm devoting about 4 hours per day to study, and I'm finding the way the course is structured really good in helping me to progress without being overwhelmed by the amount of work. Each lesson contains just the right amount of information, and then themes are picked up and explored in more depth as you progress. I'm about to submit my fifth TMA, and I've achieved a solid 100% in every assessment so far. It's not easy, but a little determination gets me there. I haven't had to ask the tutors for help so far, but it's reassuring to know they are there if needed.
My father's support has been invaluable to me. He has funded the course for me, and knowing he believes in me enough to invest his hard-earned cash spurs me on. Every time I think of slacking off I see him writing that cheque with a smile on his face, and think of how happy my friends and family are to see me doing something to get my life back, and I put my backside on a seat and hit the books. I can't wait to see their faces when I get that first commission, pay cheque, and of course that all important certificate!
