I received the next part of my course two weeks ago, of which I intend to crack down and study once I have finished my first exam, which is tomorrow morning. Two books of around 300 pages should keep me busy over Christmas. So, how is the Skills Train making my Christmas better? By giving me a perfectly valid excuse to just crawl up into my study and hide from the family for a couple of hours by diving into my books and keeping out mischief.

Aside from that, I will know this Christmas that I am one step closer to being a fully certified CIW Professional by having finished one of my examinations, ready to complete the next one in the new year. I'm sure that's a good enough reason to raise a glass of Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning too.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi,

To all my tutors I want to thank you for all your help this year, however being in the construction industry has meant that I have now been unemployed for over a month as there is not enough work.
I am finding it hard with some parts of this course but my goals are to complete this course and get a better job next year in web designing, so there will be no more cold weather and no more construction work for me and no more money problems. This Christmas is going to be a tough one for us, I cant thank my tutors enough as they have helped me through difficult times when I have been struggling and am looking forward to finishing this course. Thanks again and I hope all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I will recommend your services to other people I know as I think your company offers a good service.

Thanks Again

Studying with SkillsTrain has made a great difference in my life and moreover this Christmas better than the last because since I joined the NHS as a technician in May, 2009, (in the sterile department),the usefulness of IT skills acquired so far on the CIW course has always been very advantageous in my job.
Actually,my job description and responsibility involve using IMS scan track system among the machinery for processing decontamination of surgical instruments;which is comprising of three modules sub-divided into eight parts. This system is networked to every section of the department therefore, giving staff access to trace for example a missing item/tray or assist in finding the decontamination record of an instrument tray processed in case of any unlikely infection on patient during operation.Registration of new instruments on the database. With the help of CIW course my confidence has grown enormously in this domain. To be precise, constant use of computer to study(at home)using the basic web searching techniques in the labs has been part of it.Part of website development principle such as project management, working with service provider, ways to obtain quality feedback, accessing and updating databases etc. has really helped made stand out in the department.
The reason why studying with SkillsTrain has made this Christmas more better than the last was because with the skills I've demonstrated in the department I I've asked for a career progression into health informatics in November which I found very positive from moving from a job to a career.Without the SkillsTrain course I wouldn't have achieved this. This has really made this Christmas a wonderful one!

Since starting my CIW I have found myself a better paid job as a International Web Coordinator and am looking after 120 website, due to the travelling abroad and work load this has caused a little delay in my CIW progress but I have not given up and all that I have learn so far with my CIW course has come in handy in my working life. I would defiantly recommend starting the CIW course to further your career and earn more money. THANK YOU SKILLSTRAIN!!

Christmas is going to be better than last year as I am coming to the end of my course and the career I have always wanted is that much closer than last year.

This time last year, I was homeless and penniless and struggling to survive. I've got severe mobility problems and I find it difficult to even walk sometimes. Life was bleak.

In the last year, I have managed to get a flat to live in and totally furnish it, I've bought myself a car and I'm retaking my driving test in early January. The biggest thing I've achieved this year is starting the CIW course with Skills Train.

I'm benefiting hugely from the course and really enjoying it, but best of all, when I am finished and have sat my exams, I'll be in a very good position for future employment. The fact that I've got prospects and have achieved all these things means that this year will be a very merry Christmas! Thank you Skills Train!

I was a security officer in one of the biggest warehouses in north west of England. Nothing to be proud of - 12 hours shift spent on endless ventures trough gloomy floors full of loud machinery and underpaid workers struggling to keep up with the Christmas orders. They didn't seem to notice a silent spectator, day dreaming about seeing his family back in Poland on Christmas Eve... I couldn't think of anything else but I wasn't complaining because that thought kept me going. Even then I knew that I wouldn't be able to afford presents for my children and wife - present they deserved without a smallest doubt. I couldn't ask for a better family, my youngest daughter just turned 4 and every single time I spoke with her on the phone she was so eagerly asking "Daddy, when you come home? You don't have to buy me any presents, just come home please!" and I couldn't say anything more, my voice was shaking and eyes watering. Even when my wife took over the phone I could still hear her in the background screaming "Daddy, I love you!", I could also hear some lovely mumbles of my son, 11 months old Adam.

Over my three years abroad I learned to accept that I'm here to fight for better future of my children but being so far away from home was never as difficult as now, when every family was spending time together preparing for Christmas. And there was me, a guy who could barely afford a plane ticket to Poland, could it be even worse? Yes, it could... It was suppose to be another common day when suddenly my boss called me for a briefing, he was nervously saying something about "money saving programme", "credit crunch" and by the time I've noticed what was this about he simply said "Thank you for your cooperation Dave!" - Simple as that, I was fired...

World seemed to collapse - I had to forget about presents and even visiting my home. How could I break three little hearts by simple "I can't come this year"? I was hopeless and the only solution that came to my mind was to... sink my problems in few pints of beer. In a pub I met an old friend, with whom I haven't spoken for ages. Now we had plenty of time to catch up, I told him about my family and a situation I found myself in, I also told him about my Web Designer studies with Skills Train and then, to my amazement, he said that he might be able to help. You see, recently he became a quite successful personal trainer and he came to work with few people owning their own businesses - some of them were looking for a way to expand them using the Internet but they had no clue where to begin. Skills Train showed me exactly how to deal with that kind of tasks and my friend was so convinced about it that he offered to refer me to his clients. After about a week I got few phone calls which turned into 4 websites orders. At first I wasn't sure if I'll be able to design something that will suit the taste of my clients but they liked the website templates I made whilst studying so honestly I didn't had much to do! In few days I earned enough money to buy presents for my children and a beautiful ring for my wife and the orders keep on coming! Thank you Skills Train! ...and thank you to my old friend!

Since I've started My Web Design course it's given me something to aim for and I feel this is a life changing course and will open doors for me. Skills train have given me all the help I've needed and am enjoying every step of my course. Once I have passed my course it will my financial career better than it is now as it is quite tough for me sometimes. I believe the 2010 Christmas will be my best yet if I have a Web Design by early next year. Thanks.

Last Christmas I had nothing going for me but now I'm on my way, from misery to happiness' and I can now 'always look on the bright side of life!' Skills train could quite well be my star to follow to a better life. Thank you!!

I think I have achieved a lot in the last couple of months, I have never really used Java or Perl before and have submitted all my TMA and have had some very good results which I am surprised with. I think that my knowledge of JavaScript and Perl has really grown over the last month.

I joined this course in order to start my own business in 2008 however later that year I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. I tried to keep up with the course but the Chemo made me very sick. The support of the team has been great and I am now progressing well both health wise and on the course. My results have been fairly consistent. I am really enjoying the course and enjoy doing the TMA's. The online nature of the course has allowed me to study and keep my brain active despite the trauma of going through both Chemo and Radio therapy. I had another scan yesterday as I am still being sick and suffer pain at night so hopefully they find the cause and resolve it quickly so I and my family can have a good 2010.

2009 turned out to be a fantastic year, due, in part to my Skills Train course. In April my wife gave birth to our first child.

Yet despite this limiting the amount of time I had to study I already had the confidence from what I'd already learned throughout my first 15 months with Skills Train to start my own web design business.

I had already started creating a few website for people I knew and gradually started to grow ever more busy and in July I took the important step of buying my own commercial property to work from.

Because of my decision to take this course the recession has been kind on me and provided the opportunity to purchase the property at a low price compared to those prior to the recession. This opportunity wouldn't have been available without taking the decision to enrol on the course in January 2008 in order to leave my previous employment with a view to becoming self-employed one day.

I have since realised that dream and now, and with my new business plus the joys of having our first child 2010 looks set to be a very good year indeed!

If anything, one downside of 2009 being so "busy" was my lack of spare time to continue my course (my last marked assessment was in July!) but I have once again started submitting TMA's and look forward to progressing through the latter parts of my course.

It is so good to learn that Skills Train are able to offer me a much needed extension to my course time in order to complete the whole course and hopefully gain all the qualifications it offers. Without this course I would probably still be in the same job I was in previously which, although enjoyable, wasn't exactly what I wanted to achieve in life.

With Skills Train I have been able to realise my dream of owning my own business! Thank You, thank you, thank you!

I do have some concepts of IT but was away from my studies for last 5 years. Since joining Skills Train I have learnt a lot, even though I have a very tough time table due to my job but still I have managed to submit few TMAs with very good results.

In 2006 I developed pneumonia and was hospitalised for some time. Complications have resulted in me struggling to walk around my flat. As a result the most mundane of tasks often prove to be serious challenges as my mobility is so seriously impaired.

I started my CIW course in August last year and I am very pleased to say I am just about to start the third section in the foundations part of the course. This is a huge step for me, as I am learning a new skill, which is going to open all sorts of doors in the future, but best of all, my course gives me a real sense of achievement. It is something I can turn to and immerse myself in and despite all the problems I've got, I have consistently scored between 87-100% for my TMA's to date. I really look forward learning more!

It's been a busy few months. I've managed to get knee deep into the HTML and using the knowledge I've created a better functioning site for my animation showreel.

Since the start of the year I told myself I would really put much
more effort into my course, and web design as a whole. I have
since obtained work re-designing a website which is now 90% complete.

I spent approximately 15 hours on this site during January.

During this time I was also working full-time as I always do
as a technician for an Access Control Company, but I also
have two more web design projects in the pipeline for the
next few weeks, mainly as a result of the improvements I
have recently made to my personal website.

Finally, and possibly most importantly I have completed
all of the third book of my CIW Foundations course. I read
through the book twice and completed all of the TMAs –
of which I achieved high marks for all. I have been learning
about web design for many years but in the last 4-5 weeks I
have really stepped up a gear in the subject, I have worked
harder than I ever have done on website related work and
study and have learnt that when you set goals and you focus
on them goals daily and consistently work towards achieving
them it can be done. And so I shall continue as I mean to go
on as the satisfaction of any achievement is highly desirable.

And when you are achieving goals it becomes more like fun
and less like work, I just wished I had this strong desire, drive
and determination inside of my much sooner.

Since starting the course I have found myself maturing within a business environment and have recently become a supervisor at my current job. Although it is not within a IT department but I am sure when the time is right I will have all the appropriate skills to secure the right job.

Last year turned out to be one of the worse years of my life after starting the year being redundant, money problems throughout and ending the year losing my mum.

I'm pleased to say 2010 has started well, I'm settled in a permanent job and recently became engaged to my partner of 7 years. I've also finished my first professional website for a family member and have had a few offers of more work. I'm in a happy place at the moment and hopefully that continues.

I would just like to say a big thank you to Skills Train for allowing me to extend my course! It's a huge lifeline and has ensured my work so far has not been for nothing for which I am extremely grateful. Thanks again!

Hi

I am mum of 2 kids and recently appointed as a Maths & Science teacher in secondary school and its hard for me to get time to read the study material and complete the assignment, I always got 100% marks in my previous assignments but due to busy schedule it's hard for me to get even 50% marks in my assignment. I try to avoid this then I spoke to the tutor and they advise me and given me their full support and advice that if I want I can extend the course but then I thought this is not the solution and it's my dream to work as a web developer and work independently. Again I start sending my assignment and I can't believe that I got 100% in my assignments.

I want to continue this course anyway (because of my dream....) and try to finish as soon as possible, maybe I will get some time during Easter holidays and finish this course assignment because I am in the last topic.

Hope everyone will pray for me.

Thanks
