Hi there. Well I built myself a computer from scratch. Learned about it on the web and bought individual components online. Now, after putting it together and configuring everything, plus sorting out the faults, I have a much better understanding of how everything works. So I now do all my work on this new pc and am submitting my first assignment with it.

I think I've done excellently over the last three months. Being a graphic designer I didn't think I would cope well with the more technical side of web design. I am really pleased with myself. My PC is on its last legs and the 1st prize would be a godsend to me.

I Started the course early this month and wanted to submit three Assignment at a go, but the system was such that it could not work, I was told. however, I submitted one and the progress report sent to me indicated 100% pass. Being a father to a 4 months baby boy has not and will not stop me creating time for my course. You will receive the second assignment within 48 hours.

I AM A HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT, WHICH IS A VERY DEMANDING JOB. I MAKE TIME TO STUDY EVERYDAY. AND I MAKE SURE THAT I SEND AN ASSIGMENT EVERY TWO WEEKS OR EVERY WEEK. BECAUSE I AM AIMING TO FINISH MY COURSE THIS YEAR BECAUSE MY VISA IS RUNNING OUT AND THAT PUTS MORE PRESSURE ON ME BUT I MAKE IT MYSELF GOALS AND I MAKE SURE I REACH THEM. AND BY GODS MERCY I AM STILL SURVIVING.

I am working an hour and a half's commute away from my flat and still manage to complete an assignment a week.

Despite not having studied in this style for nearly 9 years, I have found this reallistic goal is helping me maintain progress.

I am not new in IT, but I had another problem - language difficulties. My first language is russian, and it was hard for me when I started my course, because I had to refer to dictionary very often. For now I`ve submited only two assignments, but I`m will not give up, and I think my studies will go faster in future. I will get double benefit when I complete this course: I will be able to start new career and I will improve my English significantly.

I started my web site design manager's course with no previous knowledge of computers and never used one. I can happily say I can now talk 'IT' with my friends without feeling on the outside of conversations. I have finally got to grips with the initial html/xhtml language which I was very nervous about. My girlfriend is now pregnant and if my course continues to progress well, we May all have a better future.
Thanks skillstrain!

Recently I changed ISP, because I've moved house. It took quite a while for my new ISP to send me the new modem and installation pack, so I tried to connect my wireless router what I used before with my previous ISP. I could see that I have DSL connection, but I still could not reach the Internet. Thanks for my studying about wireless networking, I could find enough information to set up the router, and now I have a secured, fast wireless internet. My neighbour is an old lady, who is also started to study how to use computer, and she likes history. I took my laptop to her, so she could use my internet to find information about her relatives even from 18th century!

I was made redundant after thirty years in the catering industry at Christmas 2006. I enrolled with Skillstrain, and started my course in January of this year. Because of the knowledge I have already gained from studying the course materials, I have managed to get a job, not only in IT, but actually showing people how to use their computers.

Well what can I say I have been down at heart the last few months about my course work trying to fit it in with my day to day routine and of course my three year old son !! I was contemplating giving the course up but then I said to myself hey you wont achieve anything by giving up so I took the situation in hand and started again. I gave the fabulous tutors a ring and together they got me back on track and I feel more in control and am actually starting to enjoy the course once again thanks again everyone !! I am sure I will be speaking to you again soon enough .

At the moment I am working my way though the course I am also working on plans to start up my own buisness in photography which takes up alot of my time.
I am also looking for work which takes up alot of time and is hard work due to having attend college 5 days a week and undertaking a work placement at a homeless shelter which leaves me knackerd by the end of the day.

I am struggling with no time to learn. Working full-time as a shop supervisor doesn't leave much time for anything. However I spend all my free time for study and this is my achievment, my first commercial website made just by myself: http://www.secretarcade.co.uk

As my first language is not English, I feel very proud of myself for the work I have already completed, its only 2 assignments but I have acheived 90% both times and am very proud. I knew not a lot about IT before I started this course, but hope to succeed and become succesfull in working within the IT industry.

I've always been a slow learner, and for some reason, never been able to understand or catch up with my education. After leaving school due to severe social anxiety disorder, I thought a career would be impossible to achieve. I've studied really hard with skills train and already I find myself learning more in a few months than I've learnt in my 12 years at school. This is an amazing achievement for me.

Since January I started to work full time and I had some health problems too. Also, my sister and my naughty nephew are living with us and I get distracted easily. I wanted to study my course, but I felt so tired; I felt exhausted and I didn't have time to study the course. I am fascinated by computers and what you can do on them and always I want to know and learn more about it. I work in an office and some of my colleagues have problems using the computer or using Word or Excel. The fact that I know what to do and I can help them makes me feel useful and reminded me how much I want to learn and know about computers. So, eager to know more I feel stronger and capable to do my course. And my colleagues, without knowing it helped me to realise that.

July of 2006, I arrived in the UK. Coming from a mining background and considering the fact that mining is almost non-existent in England, I wondered what job/course I would undertake to match with my mining skills. Meanwhile, I was later to find a part-time job in a Food Factory and this would help me pay towards my course.

One morning, I received several mails in my mailbox and among them was a leaflet from SKILLSTRAIN, listing a host of IT courses. I was attracted and wanted to know more and with a little hesitance, I called Skillstrain and a meeting with one of their Course Advisor was arranged. The meeting emerged to be fruitful and I was going to register for the CIW Website Design Manager Course.

I begun my CIW Section 1 - Part A course with low marks on my first TMA and finished with a sounding 100% pass mark. I am currently studying Section 1 - Part B. It has not been easy though but I have developed belief in myself in what am currently studying. My performance could only be attributed to the good format which Skillstrain has laid out its unique training program which I find so helpful. More important the staff are always ready to help students get as much as possible out of their course and have a sense of urgency that can be seen in their prompt response to queries.

In my opinion, the unique training program for Skillstrain provides,
a) Material content on what-to-do
b) Supplies a method on how-to-do it and
c) Meets the "acid test" that is, seeing students get excellent results.

That to me is outstanding!
There is nothing in my life that gives me more satisfaction than knowing that am surrounded by experienced Skillstrain Tutors who are willing to see me accomplish my course. It is just fun to feel myself growing more confident day by day.

Hats off to Skillstrain!!

This month I can say I finaly refined my study technique-routine, which gives me high results (100% or 93%) and I can keep my speed that I want for submitting TMAs. It was very hard for me to achieve it before as I was moving over (3 times in half a year!) sometimes having no Internet connection at home and using it at friend's or in the library. This was not easy either as I have to 'fight' over computer with my little angel-devil (which is my 13-month-old daughter) as she already knows where to insert CD and where - USB flash memory device, finishing her 'experiments' with 'palm' combination, which makes computer do all sorts, leaving me to troubleshout it. I think my biggest achievement this month is stability of the studying process that leads to good results despite of working full-time and being single parent at the same time. I keep up with my schedule and submit TMAs on time as I planed (1 TMA every week). I use every free minute I have for studying - on the bus, waiting for something, etc. I simply enjoy it very much - the course, the process of studying and experimenting with new techniques to learn and to remember.
