So, something about me.. my story.. during my studies I got a few offers for a job.. all employers know Scheidegger and their courses. So, my story is actualy yours as well :-)
-Erik
Since I joined Skills train, I have achieved a lot. The best example which I could give is my own house. I wasn't that good on networking a few months before. But since I joined here, I was so much motivated to do something.
I have developed so many skills in terms of networking that I can manage my own network at home. I maintain a server at home, i.e. I have my own server which I maintain a domain. We have totally 9 computers at home (We are all students and everyone has a computer, and every computer is connected to the domain) and we share all the resources within the network. I have also configured the server as run a VPN service, which is amazing so that I can connect to my home LAN anywhere from the world, it not only for me for all my friends who connect to my server try access files and music from the server.
I wouldn't have guess that I would have done all these stuff without joining skills train. To be honest I never knew how to crimp a patch cable before. But I can do every aspect of network by myself (but within the bounder of my knowledge).
I am looking forward to expand my bounder as long as I am in skills train.

I've found employment already within the IT industry with scope to further my career and working full time, and currently submitted 5 tma's with 2 test scores of 85% and 3 of 90%, so I'm loving the fact that I'm getting the experience of being on the job as well as training.

My wife gave birth to our daughter on 25th March, which has caused me not to be able to study anywhere as much as I need or want to, especially as our 2 year old son requires lots of attention. So it has been very gratifiying that I have done fairly well on some of my Tma's ( not 2 say that my thick head still holds all the info ......... )

This last week my course material has come in handy on 3 occasions. 1st, at work we needed a new user account setting up on the server due to a new member joining us. I called the help desk and under the contract they do not support new user accounts free of charge. So I decided to log on to the server computer myself, access the Active Directory and create a new user template and e-mail account. I then went to the new terminal, logged on then went through the motions of telling the computer that it would need to be logged on via a domain not a workgroup. This worked a treat and so far is working 100%.
2nd, My old PC would not power up and after reading the section on motherboards and CPU's I narrowed the power up issue to be with one of the two. I purchased a new motherboard installed it, put my old CPU in and connected it all up, and it powers up well, But I needed to reinstall Win XP so I had to go into the start up menu before the XP logo is on screen to tell it to boot from the CD drive. I now have a spare fully working PC.
3rd. This morning I arrived at work to find that the e-mails were down. The internet would connect but not the mails. I told all users to log out so I could reboot the server. This fixed the problem and we had emails working before the IT support company got back to us with possible solutions.
All in all I am really pleased with myself and it just proves that if you want to learn something anything is possible.

I am very happy and would like to say thanks skillstrain for the good experience, I have been very busy with my family cares and I have a 4 year old son. I am a coach driver. I do shift work when I have time I study learning about the computer. It is not very easy with work and family commitments this will give me opportunities for a new skill to a better job. Thanks.

As a new starter in computing career the skills train has given me a full moral support to start the career in IT. The IT sector is completly different subject to my bachelors or masters degree subject. It is a little bit difficult to get into the course. But I gained 97% in my first TMA. I worked hard for that, by doing a full time job in the food processing sector.I have finished my second TMA aswell in the same pressure. I hope I will get a better result compare to the first. I would like to thank you for providing such good material, that is easily to understand for the everday people like me.

I am currently doing CCNA course now. I am full-time worker in one of the telecommunication company. I already finished an university degree but CCNA is very helpfull for my long team plans. I have completed A+ and N+ and will be finish it on time. Working and studying is very hard but I can do it. Thanks to skills train, they are doing a fantastic job.

I think this Skillstrain course is the best thing I have ever decided to do. So far from a slightly slow start mainly due to finding my way around the system (as I have never done anything remotely like this before) I am managing to achieve very good results 100% and I intend to keep to that from now on. Thank you to all at Skillstrain your courses are well structured and I believe anyone with enthusiasm and determination can achieve amazing results.

I was in IT training back home(India) but since I have been in the U.K. I haave lost touch of my technical skills. I started working in the retail but its really not my cup of tea working in retail has never given me any kind of satisfaction. Finally I found skills train .... and now I am back in to the field I love to work and this is giving me a great satisfaction.... I am hoping to pass my A+ as well as CCNA with great success with the help of Skills Train...

I am happy for being a part of Skills Train group. I just want to share my experience with you all. I work for a MNC, I started this course to fined a right job for my skills. I was good in Programming but had a long break. I thought of restarting in the same field. This course helped me to restart in a proper way. To make a big story short I realised that I was good when I helped my colleague who is in his 70's, that had a problem with his system I sorted the problem out. I was very happy about that, since then he started praising me. Fingers crossed I am getting free publicity for a very small thing and this May at some point lead for bright start.

Coming along nicely with the coursework and tma's. At the same time as being a single parent. Getting good results and waking up every morning eager to pick up my books and learn more.
-Simon
Recently I bought my first house and as many people say its one of the most stressful times in your life also I might add the most expensive and because of this I have been taking on more shifts at work and having less time for my course also sorting the house out has taken up even more of my time even though I have still maintained what I feel to be good results in my TMA's and it was only a short while ago I passed my A+ qualification.

I DJ for a hobby, and have just started using a laptop alongside my turntables, this enables me to be more creative, have more fun and save money. However, when I first got the DJing software ( which basically allows you to play and mix mp3)I tried to play 2 songs simualtainously or mix them, the software froze. After areading the manual more in depth, I discovered that I had a RAM issue,I only had 256 when the software required 512. Thanks to doing this course I was able to sucsessfully identify, where my RAM was on the laptop, identify what type it was, purchase and install it and thus resolve the problem.. And because of this relatively simple task, I felt a great sense of achievement and satisfaction. I can't wait to resolve similar issues and get paid for it.

I work long hours some days 12 hours some days 14 hours but always find time to work on my Pc hardware and maintenance my achievement would be just finding time to do my work and have a life at the sametime just hard sometimes not seeing family and my mates. I think sometimes work takes over my life.

I am very happy to doing this course. It is very hard for me but I am trying my best with the help of my teaching team. Thanks to you all.

I HAVE MANAGED TO UPGRADE MY COMPUTERS MEMORY FROM 128MB TO 512 MB RAM. I HAVE ALSO INSTALLED A GRAPHICS CARD, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE COMPUTER GAME THAT I HAD BOUGHT BUT AFTER INSTALLING IT ITS PERFORMING WELL. I ALSO UPGRADED AND INSTALLED A DVD RW. AT FIRST IT DID NOT WORK AS I HAD NOT SELECTED THE MASTER AND SLAVE, BUT AFTER READING THE DOCUMENTATION AND MY NOTES I SET THE NEW DRIVE TO MASTER AND THE OLD ONE TO SLAVE AND NOW ITS WORKING FINE.

I started working life leaving school at 15 with no qualifications and just able to read and write and over the first few years I spent a lot of time getting to know the work. At 18 I started to work for what was then London Transport Executive on the london underground as a porter. Three months later I applied and became a guard and 6 months after that I took up my first post at High Barnet depot. Two Years later I got married and also put in for promotion to a driver. It was while training that I noticed that there could be a quicker way of doing things when problem occured on the train and so I challenged the teacher on this and am proud to say that they took on my suggestion and a matter of course. Once I qualified as a driver I took up my post at Kennington on the northern line. It was while there I got my first computer a commadore VIC 20 and got the computer bug.I started to teach myself thing such as binary, which at first I found totally baffling. However I stuck with it and eventually started to comprehend this and BASIC. With its peeks and pokes.I next progressed to the commador 64 and then started to learn how to address memory addresses and put colour onto the screen and move things about. The 64 VIC chip eventually gave and I replaced this removing the older one and putting its place a socket so that I could insert the chip rather than try soldering it onto the circuit board. After this I purchased an Atari 512 but did not like it much and so also purchased the Amiga. This was a brilliant machine for graphics.
I then decided to quit my job on the underground and go out into the field of computers and become a computer technician. At first I started to work for myself but this proved rather eventful and so I went into the contract market.
Getting my first break through working for an international law firm. This followed other contract work until the bubble burst and so I decided to look for and eventually found a full time job working where I am now.
I feel that for someone who left school at 15 and not been able to read and write properly to eventually find my true calling in the computer industry. thought the journey was long and hard I would say over all it has been worth the trip. To turn my hobby into a career is something I feel proud of.

I enrolled with Skillstrain believing that I already knew what I needed to know in Information Technology as I already had a Diploma Certificate in Information Technology and was on an ICT Degree Course with the Open University, but I was proved wrong. I had been struggling to get a skilled job since, but now, I am proud to say that I just got employed by one of the biggest energy companies in the UK and worldwide. All thanks to Skillstrain for helping me to brush up my IT skills. I was able to pass both the written and oral interviews, which were mostly IT based. I am currently undertaking the N+, and soon, I will be starting the CCNA and CCNP. I intend completing them and sitting for the professional exams. Keep it up Skillstrain.
