Using the knowledge I've gained from doing only a small part of the A+ Netpro course due to my youth in the course (and actual) I'm slowly becoming an underground success in my area for PC repair and troubleshooting, although this May not be all that unique to make me stand out... I am after all (apparently) skillstrain's youngest student!!

For the past couple of years I have suffered from severe depression, during that time I have lost my job. And being a single father to a 15 year old son, and very little income, the stress and worries of survival have made things very difficult. Having started the course I have found that I have gained more confidense in myself and in my abilities of computer know how, having succeeded in obtaining 100% in my last 3 TMA's it has boosted my self confidence no end, especially as the last TMA sent was a written assesment and not multiple choice. I look forward to achieving other high marks and eventualy obtain the job I have always dreamed of in the IT industry, and earning enough money to look after my son in the way he deserves.

I am currently studying Computer systems engineering at Birmingham University and hoping to graduate this year. What I have learned at the University so far has got nothing to do with PC installation and maintenance. So I don't really regret joining Skills Train. I must say the course has broadened opportunities for me especially that I am a lady. I had the confidence to make my own PC which I am currently using. Last week I had to apply my N+ skills even though I am still doing Part A of N+, to put RJ45 connectors into cables and then connect PCs to the internet. This was fantastic. Well I must say your material was useful to me because I just had to recall the notes and did the job. I am hoping to finish N+ and cannot wait to start CCNA

I enrolled to A+ certification four months ago with no idea about computers. At the moment I am on TMA 17 and I have done the installation of Windows 98 and XP.I find myself climbing the IT ladder with no problems at all, I do not know if this is because the course is easy, or the booklets are well simplified and uderstandable with the help of tutors, or probably its just my overflowing intelligence. All I know is the climb is smooth.

I am working full time at the moment but my best thing is that I give the maximum output to whatever I do, whether it is a work or study...As you can see in my tutor marked assignment results.. success is reflected on my assignments. In lots of pressure in work, I am giving the great results..I consider it is an achivement that I made only by hard work

I have completed my CCNA Intro section 1 folder in 1 month, this has been a massive acheivement for me, as I am interested in the course and would like to develop my skills further in the Cisco career. I have also won the best striker award for my football team Brentford Football Club, for this month which I am really pleased about. I started the cisco course in September 2005 with the A+ and the netpro and have successfully finished this and now I am working towards the CCNA. This would of been finished along time ago but I am also a final year student at Brunel University studying BEng Computer Systems Engineering, so at this time you can imagine I am very stressed.

Well what can I say, Thanks Skills Train and the tutor team, with your help and a lot of hard studying I've passed the CCNA INTRO exam. I took it on the 7th Feb at Lewisham College. To say I was a bit nervous the night before is a bit of an understatement. I always had the thought at the back of my mind that 'had I learned enough, had I gone over and over my course work enough times for the relevent information to sink in?'. And the answer was yes, at my age (44) it proves that you still have the ability to learn and retain the important information.
Thank you all, I am now firmley on my way to a new career.

Since November 2006, which was the last month I handed an assignment in before a large gap, I had been in constant pressure not just in my full-time employment but the pressures that are involved in the arrival of a new born baby. Indeed as time passed I kept thinking about this course and started to ask myself questions whether I could find the time to complete it. This question was further interrogated when I successfully managed to land another full-time employment with a large company in leicester. This news came just before the arrival of our baby and the constant pressures, including stretched finances, just kept telling me that I should quit the course. But I just kept telling myself and prayed that I can make it work which was largely down to the potential rewards if successful.
Indeed just recently I have managed to find some time to get some assignments finished and I must admit handing in 4 assigments in just over a week is an accompishment considering that I have not done it before and the little time that I have at my disposal and also the fact that I do not have a computer at home hence all the submission is done at work. I just hope that I keep working in he same vain as I want to make this a success.

During the last month I have managed to complete 2 written modules scoring 100% in both whilst juggling a busy army career.

I was realy surprised at my first score in TMA01. I did not expect to score 100%. This surprised me and inspired me to just dedicate more time to my IT course as a promising career in the making already!!!. I can already see light at the other end of the tunnel in this carefully chosen career in IT. I wished I had started this course 'Yesterday'. I hope for the best and want to do all I can to keep a record score in my TMAs. Give more time to the course and therefore see my dream Job in this career come sooner.

Having completed the a+ section of the course I have applied the knowledge aquired and successfully saved my friends £100 's by accurate diagnosis of their problems. One constant I have notice is unscrupulous pc repair shops always tell people the motherboard needs replacing when the fault lies solely with the PSU.

Over the past month or so, I have managed to complete and recieve 3 tutor marked assignments and I am awaiting the fourth while studying for the 5th. I beleave that it is down to my hard work and support from my tutor team that I am able to achieve such high standards of work. all of the assignments have been over 90% with two being at 100%! This has made me more eager to carry on my course and look forward to completion and my final goal.

Then at 45, and already having a first degree in Mathematics and Statistics but without any knowledge at all in Computing, I felt being left behind in this Computer era. I therefore took a courageous decision in September 2004 and accordingly enrolled onto a three-year, full-time degree course in Computing and Information Systems at the Peterborough Regional College. Suddenly finding myself among students whose knowledge in Computing was well beyond the basics, I realised the enormity of the task that lay ahead of me. I have since, had to work extremely hard to be able to move along at the pace at which the class has been moving. And I've had to combine this with part-time work. Though I have a family, the rest are not here with me and this means that all other errands have had to be run by myself. It has not been easy at all but I'm persevering. Now at 47 and in the final year of the degree programme, I still feel I need more consolidation of the concerpts, in order to build more confidence, hence my decision to enrol onto this course, which is more practical oriented. I'm still under pressure from the degree programme but I'm managing my time appropriately, so I can conveniently take this course alongside. So far I'm moving on well and I love it.

As an University student and also working full-time, I find the time to continue my studies with Skillstrain. This course has helped me with my job and a network administrator for over 20 primary schools in the area. The skills I have developed has made me understand the structure of servers and netwrok architectures, to give the children a better network, so they can develop their ICT skills as well; I feel as if I teach the children my way of ICT even though I dont actually teach them, that whats makes me proud of going to work everyday.

Since starting this course I have achived a standard of knowledge which has improved my postion at work 100%, I am able to hold coverstations with the IT manager as well as provide constructive input into IT development within the company. With the knowledge this course has given me I feel more confident in dealing with support matters and conversing problems to management upto the MD level of the company.
I would just like to say thank you for the knowledge I have aquired.
Thank you
-Paul
Within the last month, I have had to go through so much hardwork at work as a result of the peak period demands of tech support after christmas. however, my performance at work has been signficantly observed to improve, and that is because I now provide tech support (network-related) with some good understanding of how it really works. I have not arrived at the point I want to yet, but so far, so good. I am normally not on the network support lines, but I have provided such support, and by that, exceeded the expected performance target. additionally, despite this really busy new work schedule, I have still devoted time to my study, which means I have worked terribly harder, and I have submitted 5 TMA's, in which my lowest score was 80% in two, 100% in one and 90% in the other two; which I think is an excellent performance. yet all this has been combined with other self-study things am doing.
-Bennett
I really have kicked off with my studying, even if I just started a new job as well. And I really have to say I enjoy working towards my certification

Finding it hard to fit time to study into my very busy life ,due to starting work at 5.30 am and finishing at 4.00 pm ,and then looking after my ten year old daughter as my wife works till 9.00 pm. time to knuckle down to it ,studied every chance I had even in work ,had a few warnings of my boss for reading in work ,so I decided to build my own pc,bought the mother board and a pentium 4 dual core proccesor, case, ddr2 ram, dvd& cd r/w combo, floppy drive ,19" monitor and keyboard and mouse and windows xp o/s and a 200gb sata hard drive, total cost to build £490,built pc in under 2 hours installed o/s ,checked cmos ,everything working fine, decided to sell pc ,sold it for £500 and took another pc in part ex as I had put pc up for £600, upgraded the older pc and sold it for £300 ,not to bad for a man who so much going on in his mind and not enough hours in a day, thankyou.
-David
I feel I should win student of the month for completing all TMA's in under a month and you got to be in it to win it so why not try
-Anthony
I THINK I HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB ON THIS COURSE CONSIDERING I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE AND MY RESULTS ARE FAIRLY GOOD

My achievements... Well where to start. I have been finding the course extremely enjoyable and cant wait to progress through it and try to take my exams in June.
Well back to my achievements. I have had a rough start to the year firstly by having two family members pass away in the same week and then having to find the time to deal with that and concentrate on my course. As I realised when I was doing my course during that period it had given me the desire to succeed and want to pursue the best quality of life and get the best from it like my family members had done before their departures.
But I know that I need to do this for me and that I will, but something will be always dedicated to the people I have lost. I have gained the drive and motivation needed to get me through this busy and rather eventful year so far and the last thing I will say is:
Loved ones will come and go, but its the memories we have that make them eternal.

The reason why I think I could be a good contender for the 'student of the month' is because I left school with no GCSE's,then ive been car valleting for 3 yrs.but iv had no belief in myself that I can do better in life and then thats were I found skills train,im on my second TMA and allready im realli enjoying the teaching. Now im graitfull for the opportuninty.
