Since successfully completing my A+ Certification, I have been selected for the role of Head Technician and manager of the PC Clinic orientation, in PC World.

I was offered this role over colleagues that have been employed in the technician role and have been with the company for many years before myself, however, this achievement was made possible due to the understanding of computer maintenance and repair that I have gained from carrying out courses via Skills Train and my determination to succeed. very hard for promotion at work. One of my key tasks was to pass my A+ and N+ exams to help put a case forward for promotion. In December 2007 I passed both external exams to certify as an A+ IT Technician and now have the certificate on my wall at work. Then to make things even better I sat and passed my Comptia N+ exam in February and am now awaiting that certificate to go alongside my A+ one. My manager has just said he is going to support my case for promotion and fingers crossed it will be made true these coming months. All of this is down to the course materials received from Skillstrain making the studying a lot easier with excellent course materials.

When I submitted my first attempt at TMA 1, I was very surprised to have achieved 80% as I didn't think that I would get a mark as high as this for my first attempt. I'm also grateful to the Skillstrain staff for going over the questions I got wrong as this points out the areas I need to concentrate on more.

As a nightshift manager for a well know retail chain "Morrisons"

It is difficult to study and keep a regular schedule of revision, I did fall back a little when I recieved a mark of 87% in tma 8 of my network+ part A.

I do not like falling behind and with my recent move further north to the Aberdeenshire area it`s been difficult to get back into a routine especially when you work nearly 60 hours a week, getting time and necessary sleep to complete any TMA and attend your job. This can take its toll on your enthusiasm and enjoyment of the course.
However, as my mum always says "grin and bare it as it will always come good in the end" !!
Any potential student should always think where this will lead them and the rewards that come as a result.
thanks for reading

Initially, I have been struggling to find time to do anywhere near as much work as I would have liked to have done towards my course. Since finishing the first module of the course, and receiving the details for the next modules, I have managed to find a lot more time to plough on with my course. I have recently submitted 5 TMAs in less than two weeks, have got good scores and feel this is quite a turnaround, not to mention I am also studying VB.NET and C# as and when I can.

Tough as it is I am getting there, slowly.
I am happy with my progress even though I am not getting the 100% mark every time I am getting what is required.

I recently attended the Learning Styles Live Internet Training. Although I had completed the necessary checks on my PC as advised, I was very impressed to get a phone call to ensure that I had not had any problems doing the necessary checks and that I could indeed log on to the session. I found the session very informative. Thanks for a great session - I look forward to the next!!

All though a very boring subject that needed to be studied. It went very well. The teaching team was very good and even rang to remind me about going online.

AS I am now on my MCSA and just about a submit TMA 08 and have previously done my BSc in multimedia, so the live training is more of a revision for me. However I did still find the event worthwhile and will use it again
