My learning curve is extremely high at the moment.
I am reinforcing my basic understanding of how computers work, as well as learning new things everyday.
This course is intense but it is also very rewarding.
The facts are accurate, the learning tools are accessible and reliable.
The overall experience is quite enjoyable.

First of all, before I started this course I didn't know anything about hardware, but now I can make backups of my laptop and apart from that, I now know much about PCs. I can connect my laptop to Internet without anybody helping me.

I started this course with the sole purpose of passing it and then changing my career for the better (hopefully). I have gained a vast amount of knowledge that I had no idea about before, my grades are in the 90's which has amazed me. My daughters nursery school has a computer which was basically poorly, after a week putting into practice what I have learnt on this course it's now fighting fit and I have now shown them how to do things like newsletters etc, so that it looks a lot more professional. It doesn't take ages to get going like it did before. Money well spent so far, hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Being a man of 60 years old, I have found it hard to firstly understand a lot about computers, and so have had to study very hard and achieved over 95% average over all the section 1 and section 2 exercises.
Secondly, I have had to work long hours doing a full time job, then after a day of hard physical work I have had to force myself to study for about two to three hours an evening to achieve the results I have.
Thirdly, due to the hard work, I am even more determined to complete the course and to become qualified to a high standard, and therefore increase my prospects of a better paid and more satisfying job.
I have on many occations due to this course been able to help some of my neighbours to fix and maintain there computers. Thank you Skills Train.

I recentley signed up to study the A+ and N+/MCSE course aged 52. I am an electrician by trade but come on lets be honest, it was years since I studied and attened college. Yes once I started I thought ....... whoops what have I taken on here. But wow, what a clever way of working and studying.
I've now completed 3 assignments, two I have had responces to and one is pending. Touch wood, results are good so far.
My life is not exactly hectic socialy but I travel most weeks on average 700 to 1000 miles comissioning fire alarm systems in comms rooms throughout the uk and europe, so my study time is limited to aircraft seats or motorway service areas.
Now as a mature student, and having to keep abreast of technology within my employment, I found it hard at first to make the time to follow the syllabus, and to be honest I did consider calling it off, but hey, as it says on the tin, I learn at my own pace and I really think Im doing well.
I'm a one parent family, although my youngest are twin girls (21) now, so holidays etc have come into play. But yes Im finding a routine and, dare I say it, Im proud of what Im doing and hopefully ( fingers crossed ) two years from now I will be changing employment into the world of I.T.

I believe I have achieved well since starting the course. Firstly when I started I thought I would not be able to have the self motivation to study enough to pass the tests, I am already acheiving more in my results than expected. Secondly I feel I am getting so much from the course I introduced a friend who is now also doing the same course as me, and he is very happy he chose to do it. Thirdly since starting the course I left my job doing meter reading which was really soul destroying for me, and was leaving me feeling depressed at the end of each day, and now I have just started a new position at Sony doing 1st line support to customers regarding electrical product connectivity. I feel this is a big step forward as later I May be able to gain a role as 1st line support in IT. I have added the knowledge I have learnt to my CV and I have had responses for jobs in IT, though I have not yet passed the first interview stage, I am getting experience in interviews that I might not have got before this course. Lastly and most importantly I feel my confidence in my learning ability has grown enormously and I feel I am finding the more I study and complete, the easier I am finding it to take in the information. I no longer feel depressed with problems or feel that I am not going anywhere. I feel really good about myself and this is the most rewarding thing for me.

The Live Internet Training was a very good session, and effective, not because it was an easy topic. I studied this material recently and it was effective opportunity to revise it.

I have achieved Aplus certification since I started this course, also I have used my knowledge to help an ICT tutor of UCKG church achieve her qualification. I have also helped members of my church who are parents to be able to check what their children are viewing and doing on the internet. I started my own small business solving computer hardware and software problems for people.

This has been a very good month for me in terms of getting new knowledge. First of all I have submitted three TMA and from two of them I gained 100%. At the time of writing my story I am waiting for the next TMA results and activation code which will allow me to submit another TMA.

I had had a little break at the beginning of the month but then I started my course again. I have learned quite a lot interesting things of which I wasn't aware before. I have learned that Active Directory isn't that simple as I was thinking before. Now I have big picture of it and I still believe I will discover a lot of new things which will be very useful for me is my career.

I have learned how to use few interesting tools and they helped me a lot with writing scripts. The knowledge which I gained saved me a lot of time. Probably without this course I would never know that they exist.

I am looking forward now to see my next part of the course and that hopefully within three months I will start taking my MCSE exams.

Last week I managed to get myself in touch with an association named LG technology inovations. Before that, I had an interview with Microsoft computing, and was called back for a second interview. I am currently working at LG as a part-time employee and have started a job with them as an administrator working on there systems. Microsoft had no issues with me working for them except I complete the training course and then can apply for an MCSA administrator within there company. I since was fishing for employment to get a "start up foot" in, so I could progress and be able to get used to the environment. Luckily, as mentioned, I did get in to LG and now hope to progress within there company so I can get hands on experience. I can see my career pushing forward, and can see were I hope to be in 10yrs time, and its a great thought! Once again, I would like to thank everyone at skills train and advice everyone who is out there on skillstrain programme, to keep it up, its all worth the effort!

I am a qualified nurse who works in a nursing care home. I deal with residents with dementia and frail elderly. I have been here for 18 months from Botswana Africa, a country hardest hit with HIV/AIDS. But through hard work and dedication in a new environment I manage to succed through the odds. I have been promoted to a post of a sister from 13/08/07 at a local care home where I'm currently working.
I feel honoured to be given that challenging role but at the same time I find time to do my studies with skillstrain.
One day at work I assisted a colleague to operate a computer, and despite limited knowledge, I was confident enough. I helped because she was about to call a technician out which was going to cost a company a fortune.
Generally I think I have achieved more than I expected and am currently encouraging my friends to join skillstrain.
Thank you!

I recently passed MU120 as part of my degree course for the open university(unfortunately no score was given for this course as it is a refresher course for those entering into a degree in Computing and mathematical science), as well as studying for tma05 (ok so I didn't pass this first time) and my grades for my A+ course are pretty high considering the fact that I am studying two courses at once. I have also recently built a new computer for my GodDaughter and put her on my network as well, as regularly helping my friends and family with thier own computer related problems.

I have over the past few tmas got 100% so I am very pleased with myself. I am currently looking into starting my own business so I am trying to find the best reliable places to get pc parts, many many people are now asking my advice instead of going to the local pc repairer, they are telling me I know more than he does. That I am not sure on but if I dont know I tell them and I also tell them my advice is only a phone call away as a result they are letting other people know who I am

Whilst continuing my studies with the MCSA course, of which I have nearly completed, I have in the last two weeks passed BOTH my A+ Certification exams (220-601 & 220-602), and am looking forward to taking my N+ exam soon!
