I have just recently started to study again after many year. I have a 7 month old baby and I work almost 7 days a week and I found it hard at first.
I decided to set myself a target to how much I would study in the first week I set my self a target of 1 hour a day as I did not have the time.
As time went on I kept setting myself targets but did not meet them until recently.
This month I am proud to say that I have met all the targets I set myself and I now study around 3 hours a day it was hard at first and it took a while for me to get where I am today being busy with the baby and work. I feel I have achieved a great deal this month and I actually look forward to comming home from work and sitting down and I enjoy the 3 hours of learning every day.
If anybody ever tells you that you cant do anything in life they are wrong and I am glad to say that people who said to me that studying would be a waste of time and cost to much I can now prove them wrong as I am really achieving something that I never though I would do it took lots of hard work and patients but I finally got there
Thanks

I AM CURRENTLY A CHEF WORKING 12 HRS A DAY AND STILL BE ABLE TO CARRY ON WITH MY COURSE, I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT HOW A PC ACTUALLY WORKED WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT ASCII AND BINARY DIGITS, NOW I HAVE A FAIRLY GOOD IDEA WHAT GOES INTO A PC.

I started my A+ course in the middle of March 2007 basically as a novice. I studied very hard, literally every day, and did quite well with my TMAs. When I completed my last TMA, the thought of doing the actual exam was quite scary for me since I had not formally studied in over 20 years.

Anyway I spent a couple of weeks revising and building up my confidence and then decided to book the two exams which would allow me to gain A+ certification. On Tuesday 18-Sep-2007 at 11:00am I stepped into the Pearson Vue exam room and did my CompTIA A+ Essentials and gained a score of 685. Then about an hour later I did the CompTIA A+ 220-602 exam IT Technician Designation and gained a score of 820.

I am very pleased with my achievements up to this point. I am now in the process of applying for work using my newly acquired skills and certification. I have also embarked on my N+ course.

WITH MY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO USE THE COMPUTER(PC, I DECIDED TO ENHACE MY CHANCE OF GAINING AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK IN AN IT COMPANY. AFTER I HAD DONE ALL MY RESEARCH ON THE BEST IT TRAINING SCHOOL, SKILLSTRAIN SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING THAT CAN DELIVER ME FROM MY PROBLEMS. SO WENT ON AND SIGNED UP FOR A COURSE IN PC HARDWARE AND MAINTENANCE. I'M FINDING IT REALLY INTERESTING STUDYING. SINCE I JOINED SKILLSTRAIN MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SIT FOR MY EXAMS. I JUST WANT TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU FOR MY COURSE WORK WHICH IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND.

Since I started my course back in October all I wanted was to prove to myself tht I could do it....everyone around me was suspicious and reluctant about it but I never looked back.

I am a 38 year old mother and not only I am looking after my 6 year old son,but also my disabled mother is living with me at present. I am working in the retaiil and this course will give me an opportunity to do better in the future.

I have completed my first 3 TMA's and that is something I am very proud of.
It is very hard as english is not my first language, but hopefully as I go on it will become easier.

I would like to take this opporunity to thank you for taking time to read this.

I only recently started this coursework, and am in my 5th week of study. I am a single parent with three children under two. Although I was determined to complete the full set of coursework, exams and all, I worried about studying and retaining information so densely technical. I am proud to say that even with studying when I can, and late at night, I have averaged around 94% on my assignments!! I am really happy and encouraged by this result. I am looking forward to many more nights studying while the children are asleep.

At 30, working as an electrical foreman(sub contractor), overlooking a £5 million project; is challenging enough; dealing with people with vast experience in the construction industry. Daily duties involves dealing with the company office on hourly basis, main contractor site manager, architects, project manager, site representative, quality controller representative, company owner and arranging work four tradesmen; only on daily basis. keeping up with my little girls and my missus, and do some studies through skills train is a challenge but seems accustomed to it, and hoping to achieve more in the near future.

I have improved in my academic performance dramatically. I started of with difficulties but now I have been achieving high results including 100% for my part A revision on the Security part of my course. I have been studying hard and this means that I am able to apply my computer security skills in my job (which requires applying quality assurance). Thank you.

I joined skillstrain in Dec 2007 but unfortunately I could not start working on it as I had little girl to look after. Now within one month I have finished 5 chapters of Network + which is great and I am aiming to sit for my exam for Network + in October this year which is going to be a great achievement for me.

Since starting the course I have had very little free time to sit down and work through it. Just recently I have been looking for a job to help pay for the course and having a very difficult time finding one.

Only being on this course for a few months now, and finding it quite challenging but also very interesting, I still have just enough time in the evenings to work through it.

During the days, I have to search through 1000's of jobs, trying to find something that I am qualified for with my GCSE's, then, to earn some extra cash I help around the home, the football grounds, and even friends and family's homes or relatives just to earn the money I need to help pay the course.
Finally, after working and searching all day, I get an hour or two to myself to work through the course. I have to do this everyday until I find a job.

Through all the stress and worries and difficult tasks I go through, even at the end of the day I am still able to sit down for a couple of hours to do my coursework and assignments before starting all over again the next day.

Since I started the course, I have had to work hard and put as much effort as I can into the course. I have always been a fanatic about computers and IT and find how they work amazing.

Hopefully I will find a job soon as to not overwork myself.

This was my ever first LIT since I started my course. I enjoyed it a lot and it is very interactive and straight forward. I look forward to attend forthcoming ones.

I missed the training by 20 minutes simply because I was held up in traffic. But caught up nearly half way through. I learnt a thing or two about Network Troubleshooting nonetheless, I shall be revisiting the missing part later on.

After my employer find out that I'm studying IT he call IT manager in house and ask him for support me and can I support him as well in his job. So that is very good start, they never ask me about IT but now everything changes. Thanks to Skillstrain.

I feel I have achieved quite a lot since I have enrolled, I am currently employed as a HGV driver which demands long hours, I live on my own and I have a beautiful little boy who takes up the reminder of my time. Squeezing in this comprehensive course was quite a tall order but thankfully I have managed with very encouraging results. I think anyone who has the foresight and courage to re-enter education in this format has already achieved.

When I first started studying with skills train I was a bit worried as it's been a couple of years since I've been at uni and it's a big step to decide to get back in to it all again but once I'd had a meeting with the course advisor it really helped me to prioritise my life and motivate myself and now that I've been doing it for over a month I'm really pleased I took this step and it's nice to know I have a full tutoring team behind me if and when I need them.

I started my course 3 months ago, so far I have gained a lot, I got back my reading habit, get to know the meaning of a lot of wordings in computing, at least I can give a guide on what to look for when you want to purchase a pc and to crown it all the student world has been a tremendous assistance for me.

I registered for this course in July and my wife was put to bed in July. It was not easy to cope with baby and my course, since my wife is a PHD student in the university of Nottingham (LAW dept.), she needs to go to school to see her supervisors. I was able to summit my first assignment in November and I got 90 percent. This motivated me for my second assignment in which I studied very hard and I got 90 percent for my second assignment. I'm very happy for this result and its giving courage that I will pass my professional exam.

Since I joined skilled train for the course of study I have gained a lot, aside my course of study progress, I have also known the meaning of so many familiar words in IT that I have read on daily basis, I can also confidently give a guide for the purchase of a pc, and fix some technical problems on a pc up to the level that I have gone on my course of studies. Personally, I have re-gained my reading habit which was lost months ago, the student world website has been very useful to me in terms of my studies and personal use.
As I progress in my studies, am very optimistic that I have no cause to regret my enrolment for the course.
