During January I completed the first part of my CCNA studies, having last year passed all my exams for A+ and N+ with flying colors (scoring 870 for A+ Core Hardware exam 220-301, 829 for A+ Operating Systems exam 220-302, and 734 for Network+ exam N10-003) thanks to the structured training I have received from SkillsTrain. On commencing my studies I was initially somewhat intimidated by the apparent complexity of the CCNA syllabus, having not had a great deal of exposure to computer hardware and networking in the past. Now that I have got CCNA underway during this part month and am getting to grips with it I know I have really learned a lot during my studies with SkillsTrain, and feel a sense of achievement to have reached this challenging level of study whilst still working in a full-time job.

Having just completed the revision supplement TMA's today I am looking forward to starting work on the next part of the CCNA course, which will include Live Labs training.

Just submitted TMA14 (so far with an average pass mark of 88%). My partner and I have just had a baby and are also entering property developement, this is on top of my full time job as a Master Technician for a large automotive manufacturer, and have the stress of a knee operation. So if I can achieve this return on my studying, anyone can. Just stick at it and set achievable goals on each section, and UTILISE the tutor team !
Good luck to everyone on each course.

On December 22nd 2006 I sat and passed with a result of 100% my comptia network+, which I was over the moon about. This was my first step into the world of networking and after a well deserved festive season break I began work on my ccna mid January. I have just received my TMA1 result-100%-again I am over the moon. My TMA2 has been submitted today and I am confident I will maintain a high % result with this and all of my ccna work. I had wanted to begin work on the ccna earlier in January. However, due to my network+ results and enthusiasm my employers (siemens) have given me the opportunity to "shadow" their network engineers involved in the design and implementation of the network for the new headquarters of BBC SCOTLAND. This is a great opportunity which I have embraced. However it has had a negative effect on my study timetable. Perserverance has helped me achieve a great TMA1 result which I am very proud of. Apparently my hard work and enthusiasm are paying off already as my employers have also agreed to reimburse 50% of my course fees upon completion of the ccna. This is a huge incentive and coupled with the bbc network exposure is making my learning experience fantastic. Albeit more difficult to keep up my self imposed study schedule. I have even managed to setup a small home ,wireless network for my brother and sister-in-law(only two pc's, but we all have to begin somewhere!). The ccna while being difficult has envoked more enthusiasm from me than anything has done for many years. Henec my 9-6 job and "extra" activities with the siemens network engineers has not and will not slow down my learning curve. I would like to thank you all for your help throughout.

Since the beginning of November I have managed to get to the half way point of my A+ course. Not remarkable in itself, but, I work full time averaging 50+ hours a week, I have four children aged 11, 6 and twins of 18 months old and Christmas in the middle of all this.

I have been very impressed with my progress, achieving on average 90% per assignment. Working and studying has been difficult, with a 2yr old daughter and pregnant wife to support. But I feel I have applied myself excellently, and aim to continue to achieve the high standards I set myself.

Despite working full time on shifts and being under the threat of imminent redundancy and all the pressures, worries and headaches that come with the situation, I have maintained my coursework on time and to a fairly good standard. I am also teaching my wife how to e mail! Not that great, you May think, but she is something of a tecnophobe and always seems a bit too busy to sit at a PC for long enough to take it all in. I will persevere.

To make an option to start a tottaly new career and come back to study after 30 years at 51 years of age in another country. I think this is a big step and a great personal achievement.

I really think I have now come to terms of liking to study even more than before when I come back from work exhausted,I still manage to peruse through my lessons.I feel motivated when I speak with my tutor, because after helping me with my lessons,he still asks me for any further question.I work from Monday to Friday, but still do manage at least to understand most of my lessons I study that particular day/night.I think my performance hasn't been that bad as feared before.I would like thank all the tutors for their lovely help.

SINCE STARTING THIS COURSE I HAVE BEEN SO INVOLVED AND EXCITED BOUT THE MATERIAL I HAVE BEEN LEARNING. THIS I FIND QUITE OUT THE ORDINARY AS I HAVE HAD MY WORK CUT OUT, FIRST THE AU PAIR HAS BEEN QUITE ILL SO I HAVE HAD TO DO THE HOUSE HOLD CHORES AND LOOK AFTER MY 3 CHILDREN AND NORMAL WORK LOAD, PLUS I HAVE HAD MY WIFES SELF ASSESSMENT TO DO AS SHE HAS HER OWN CATERING BUSINESS. ON TOP OF THIS MY FATHER HAS HAD A STROKE TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF HIS BRAIN, I WAS QUITE UNSETTLED EMOTIONALLY AND DRAINED, BUT THIS COURSE HAS TAKEN MY MIND OFF MOST OF THE TEDIOUS DUTIES AND MY DAD SHOULD MAKE A FULL RECOVERY IN TIME. THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF THIS COURSE IS NEW TO ME AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REST, THANKYOU.

Achieved outstanding TMA results that I wasnt expecting from reading through the manuals, even managed a high revision supplement mark. Plus, I have helped my brother in detecting viruses on his computer, something which I needed help with 5 years ago!! He likes to think he can manage these himself, but I showed him someone else is on hand just incase. Also, I feel as though Ive progressed nicely, engaging in sometimes longer than average sessions reading my course material.
Many Thanks!

I have managed to work really hard on this course and pass my assignments despite suffering from fibromyalgia and severe asthma, being a full time carer to my husband who has epilepsy and coping with a recent family bereavement. I have been using the knowledge and skills that I have learnt to help my husband to use the computer.

I feel that I deserve to be Student of the month because: I have finished my last 3 assignments at 100% without having to re-submit, I have acheived this through increased studying despite working as a night carer five nights a week 8PM - 8AM and looking after my daughter when she finishs school at 12PM. I now feel that I am ready to undertake a role within the I.T. industry as all my colleagues at work are asking me to come round to fix there P.C. the worst problem I have fixed is a blue screen on startup saying config/security file missing or corrupt! which I managed without any loss to any data contained on the P.C. my colleagues are also asking my advice on which P.C. they should buy.

I am currently studying for my A+ then moving onto my N+. Im finding my course really interesting and inspirational in the fact that having been so long away from study I am now doing what all teachers used to say I didnt do apply myself. Its tough going like most folk doing distance learning, I have a wife and two boys who require that quality time and two jobs to keep the money coming in while I study. However I have created a good study timetable which seems to be helping as I have just submitted my third TMA having scored in the 90s for my previous two. I only began studying end of November 2006 and feel I have made great in-roads over my first 3 months. it would be a great achievement to be considered for student of month but I know other great guys out there who also deserve recognition for their efforts.

At work, our IT team has moved a critical piece of hardware downstairs. At the same time they installed a CAT5 extender and hard wired the audio back upstairs to the monitor in our control room... unfortunately we have experienced problems with the PC crashing even though it has ample ram and processor power. I found that the network adapter and audio are using the same IRQ line and this 'May' be causing a conflict. I only know this because of the A+ course I am studying and the knowledge I am gaining.
Its so interesting being able to put my study into good use, and gives me more experience in what career I wish to pursue.

I started A+ N+ and CCNA course in January.Having had no IT experience I thought that I would really struggle. I have very much enjoyed it so far and I am now starting my 5th assignment. Having had 100,90 and 80% so far I would like to improve and set a goal of at least 90% average. This course is providing me with a great new start and with hard work I believe this will make a huge improvement to my life in general. Thankyou for introducing me to this course.

After years of non study, and new to this course, I have achieved a 1st tutor assignment mark of 100, which May not be the biggest or best achievement to be listed here, but to someone who never thought it was possible, using these great tutorials, tutors and information, I know my future is looking a little brighter each turn of a page. Thanks skillstrain!

I HAVE ACHIEVED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS SO FAR, WITH GOOD RESULTS IN MY A+ 2003 OBJECTIVES, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TO WORK FULL TIME AND STILL GIVE LOADS OF TIME TO MY TWO LITTLE BOYS.

I have recently started with N+ beginning January and I am very pleased with my progress. I have achieved a 95% pass average so far and I am now busy with TMA 08 .I have been extremely consistent , submitting TMA weekly. As a father of two and in fulltime employment with a burning desire to change a career I am convinced that my dreams are slowly becoming true.I am positive that in three months time I will be sitting for ComptiA exams which is a major hurdle to put behind and a start of my career change.
