Well for me it hasn't been submitting TMA's but the fact that since I have taken this course my life has changed big time. Before I had very little going for me but as soon as I passed my comptia a+ I found myself working for the NHS , and later even for my local council. Submitting the coursework was affected but I was installing servers , PC's , Routers, Switches. I always kept the latest updates for the course with me and applied what I had learnt reading them in my work. My wife is extremely happy with the way life has changed for us as my life before was very bad with me being a heroin addict. I got into this course because I liked computers and it was more of a hobby, however it helped me overcome addiction at the same time as open doors and today I am so happy and grateful because of it :)

I have only been using computers for a year and have found working with them very interesting and much fun ! I first started using the home pc for internet use, then moved onto burning dvd's etc etc, I find nearly every time I use a pc I learn something new. so why not try and make a career out of something I really enjoy doing ! I feel that I am progressing really well but still find it hard to get the study time in as I have a full time job which involves quite a lot of extra hours and also have a family to cater for, I'm sure there are lots of others in the same boat. I have scored well in all of my TMA's and I'm very focused on where I want this course to take me.

Completed my N+ course and went to take my public exams. Through out the course my marks have been fairly high averaging above 95% overall. My moment of truth came when I went for my public exams. I failed at the first attempt but did not lose hope as I missed by a few marks. I was able to gauge what I needed to get my certification. After a week I retook the exam and passed on 25 March 2009! I'm raring to go on the next stage of my course. A big thanks to my Tutor team and Skills Train!

Since before Christmas I have thought about whether I was doing the right thing by taking this course, because I am forgetting what I learnt in my previous assignments, and my pc has developed a fault with sound that could not put right.

After speaking to Anthony I had a good think about it, I enjoy working with pc`s and decided I cant let it get me down, I have now changed the way I study and feel, as a pc technician I would encounter problems, and remembered all the times I resolved my pc issue`s and enjoyed the feeling of achievement.

I am now back to trying to resolve my sound problems with the help of your tech team.. because anthony made me realise that it..... is ok to ask for help

Being a busy school teacher, I have a long and fulfilling day with my students. And yet I feel that my achievements are 1. still keeping up with my course syllabus and 2. After Studying various aspects of the course, I am more confident in assisting colleagues in school with loading new software, installing printers and replacing printer heads, connecting a projector and Wii games console, to much of the kids delight and colleagues gratitude. This course has already had a great impact on current career. I look forward to writing the exams and officially sharing my expertise with the rest of the school or maybe start my own business.
Thanks to SKILLS TRAIN

For the last year I have been working for an Electronics company which among other things has a computer section that covers all the components required for home computing and small business. Although I previously had some technical knowledge it has been difficult to deal with customer enquiries regarding detailed aspects of computers including PSU's graphic cards, networking and the troubleshooting of hardware failures. Due to what I have learnt on the CompTIA A+ course already I have been able to solve a number of problems for customers that I would not have previously been able to do. One situation in particular concerned a gentleman who relied completely on his computer for his livelyhood. After adding a new graphics card to his computer he was advised by another local Nationwide computer retail chain on changing his PSU to provide enough power for the additional card. A few days later his computer started to smell of burning and failed completely. After finding no help with the retailer and being quite frustrated and worried that he could not afford a new computer he came to us looking for advice. After are initial discussion and my recent module on PSU's it seemed clear that his PSU he had been advised to get was either faulty or inadequate for the task. Once an inspection of the computer could be done I identified the graphics card and its own power requirements as well as the rest of the computer's components. The card required 20 amps more than the PSU he had been advised to get could provide. From this and what I had learned I was able not only to recommend an appropriate PSU but fit it and checked that no permanent damage had occurred. Up to this point I had been supervising Audio Visual and Public Address enquiries. Thanks to just the first few modules of the course I have been able not only to help the gentleman keep his ability to keep his job but I am now being given the opportunity at work to take on more computer enquiries and troubleshooting thus making sure I have job security in an uncertain retail business period. Thank you for the chance to do this course and the gentleman I helped thanks you too!

I am very happy with my Unit course results, trying to keep above 80% is very challenging, my average target is 90%, as a complete novice in IT, my progress is very encouraging and satisfying, with an average of 92% so far.

My recent submission of the TMA02 and the results of 93% pass means a great deal, I was seriously doubting weather I could achieve such a result, so that in it's self is a prize. though its not the real exam, it has boosted my confidence and can't wait to complete unit 3. thanks for your help and support.

As an asylum seeker it's very hard thinking about the out come of my case with the Home Office and studying and studying at the same time but I am coping. Hello,

My main achievement within the last month was to start getting my understanding on how to begin. My own PC trouble shooting saved both my time and money that I would have to spend when calling a specialist. By applying and following the TIA's model I eliminated many possible causes of problems. As a result I found the real cause as well as possibility of eliminating the problem. This experience built my confidence. I have just started my course and I can't wait to find out what I am going to know when I finish it!

Thank you,

I have been working overtime lately and my in-laws are both seriously ill. I have had to manage my time and have learnt when I have a spare hour to Knuckle down and study. I have still managed to get assignments in, with not to many incorrect answers.

I was knocked over 2 months ago while on my push bike and was badly injured, while in this time I've found it hard to do any course work. Its only in the last 2 weeks that I've thought I need to get back to my course work.

All I've done in the 2 weeks is studied very hard to better my last score of 90% and I did that with a 100% for assignment 4. I am very happy with this mark as it shows when I study well I can achieve very good marks and I feel proud of this mark.

This is for the last 6 months but I'll put it for this month as I feel I have over come all the problems that have been thrown my way. over the last 6 months a lot has happened and I have continued to do the course to the best of my ability, my mum past away in December and I lost my job in January. even though this all happened I have continued my course work and maintained a good score in my TMA's. it has been hard sometimes to keep the course going but I just kept going remembering that my mum was happy I was trying to improve myself
p.s I have now gone self employed to be able to work still
