IT Training Courses Certification Reviews
Well, its been hard, but I have finished my first book of my CIW course.
Have a bit on my plate at the moment and did'nt think I could acheive the results for my TMA's (3x 100%, 1 x 95% and 1 x 98%). I am very pleased with myself as I have not carried out any type of studying for many years now.
Many times I felt negative and thought that due to pressure of work and 18 month baby, and wife with Post Natal Depression, I May have to give up.
I know this sounds daft, but doing this course and knowing that the end goal of acheiving 'CIW' is at the end of the tunnel makes me feel proud of myself.
I was a complete dummy when it came to computers before this course, but know, even though it was alot to take in, the info I have learned in my first book has given me the confidence to assist friends and family. I have started book 2 and am enjoying learning all the diferent modules and sections that make up my course.
Thankyou.
-Ian
Whilst not knowing what kind of work was going to be entailed in taking the second part of the course, I was able to grasp the concepts and ideas explained to me with relative ease. This is reflected in my test results, in how I managed to score 80% and above in all of my tests on the first attempt. In doing this, I have enabled myself to work at a fast pace whilst also absorbing all that is being taught, and I feel that in achieving this I have demonstrated that I have made sufficient progress and success in the course.

Understanding and learning more about my course all the time. Proud to be achieving my potential in the 2 TMA assignments I have completed so far, studying harder everyday so I can eventually achieve a great job in a massively expanding career. I want to be part of tomorrows world.

I have been working hard. I sent my first TMA01 on the 1st of March 2007. I today, I have sent TMA05. Within a month I was able to complete 5 TMAs. As I said in my precious achievements. I am in parish ministry, final year LLM student with a lot of research and course work, and yet, I have been able to do my E-Commerce and Project Management TMA01-TMA05 course work.
I need your votes.

I am a CCNA student and a mother of two. I graduated from Chemical Engineering in Aug 2004.I got married in September and came to the UK with my husband who is a fulltime student in Sep 2004. I found out about Skillstrain and decided to change my career. At first , I found it very hard studing my new career, especially when I had not a single idea about I.T, but Skillstrain made it easier for me and much more exciting.I completed the A+ and N+ part A of the course and now I am studing part B of the course.
Before 3 months ago we moved our home and I had my son there, and since then I am finding it almost impossible to study and to take care of my children and do the house work at the same time. My older daughter is 21 months old and she is a very busy girl, I cant possible study when she is around. When I had my son I was thinking seriously to quit my course but I realised that it wont affect anyone but me. About a month ago I encoureged myself to get on with it and started to study. I am now in unit 6 of the N+ part B and I am looking forward to take my examinations.
I would like to thank my Tutor team for being very helpfull and also to thank my husband who is helping me with my course meterial and encoureging me to go further.

I do not know if my achievements are worthy of an award, but nonetheless I am proud of them. After enrolling with skills train early in March I have managed to complete 3 TMA's achieving 95%, 93% in the first 2 and hopefully a similar award for my 3rd, I have yet to receive my mark for the 3rd. May I just take this opportunity to congratulate all students on thier achievments thus far and wish them all well as they continue on the road to success

I had achieved several TMA's passes on coursework for 2003. I applied for the update & received coursework for 2006 & have passed 7 TMA's in over 1 month, even though I started my course on February 10th 2007. I have got this far whilst making arrangements for our Wedding on April 23rd 2007, I feel this achievement and teaching our youngest son aged 6yrs to grasp what to do with 1 of the programs I put on his PC, how he can listen to music. I feel after everything I'vedone this month a prize is worth considering.

Hi I am a working wife and mother of two with a new baby expected in June so it is a real challenge for me to be able to find time to study whilst managing a household.
I am however enjoying the course so much and my knowledge is growing everyday. I am studying the CIW Web Site Manager course which is a fantastic step up for me. What I have learned so far has been tremendously helpful in my current job as Technology Enabled Learning Co-ordinator. I am hoping to be able to use my new skills in a way that will give me the opportunity to be able to work from home and thus spend more quality time with my family.
I am really excited about completing this course and each time I submit a TMA I anxiously await the results like a child waiting for a gift from Father Christmas.
I am really proud of my progress this far with an average score of 94%.
WELL DONE ME!
-Marie
My nationality is Moroccan I am self taught in english and I have a passion for flash and macromedia, I love to learn, as well as working 64 hours a week and spending as much time as I can with my family I still find time to study hard and get good grades my average is about 95% in my assignments. Before I started this course just under a year ago I didnt have a clue about web design but the more I learn the more I want to learn, I want to become the best there is in web design, so I am very proud of what I have achieved. My aim is to finish my course work and have the ability to use my new found knowledge to the best of my ability, for as long as I can remember I have wanted to learn about flash and macromedia but didnt do it until coming to the UK. There is so much more that I want to learn about web design, flash and macromedia I simply want to know all there is to know about it.

I have simply found myself achieving results I didn't think possible! Having submitted my 8th TMA I have found myself never recieving a mark lower than 93%, and have had two 100%!
I have enjoyed my studying, even though I am finding it financial tough, but I will continue on as I believe I can pass this course.

Since starting this course I have began to slowly move up the ladder in my present employment. When I have applied for higher positions before I have been told I did'nt have the necessary IT skills.Since including this course on my CV I have got a position as an NVQ assessor, and also a Union Learning Rep,which includes showing other employees how to use computers. This is not my final goal however,it's the first rung of the ladder for me.

I' m from Sri Lanka.I' ve come to UK becouse of my housbands studies. At that time I did not have a idea to study again, because I got a small baby to lookafter and it really hard to find time for studies.
Fortunately I got a leaflet from Skill Train. Then I searched through the internet for more details. After that I decided I can follow this course even I do not have a enough time.
Here I'm working for a warehouse as a warehouse operator. Also I'm helping to my husband when I got spare time. With all these difficulties I'm happy to say I got very good marks for my last three assignments during this month. Marks are 100%, 87%, 97%.
I'm really looking forward to finish this course with a higher grade and try to get a good job in this field . Which I really interest. thak you very much Skill Train.

I've been looking for a 2nd hand PC for my son for quite sometime because I can't afford yet to buy him new ones. One day as we're throwing unneeded things to re-cycling plant we saw a PC lying on the ground (within the re-cycling plant) so we grab it without hesitation and took it home. We were so excited of our new found treasure, so upon reaching home I Open it and clean it and checked if all components are intact. What I saw from the outside reveals what really is inside, a complete system. Make a list of all its components e.g. display card, sound card, modem etc. for future driver references when necessary and check also the power supply and found to be okay. But when I turned it on, it gave me a strange sound and without screen display. So I open it again and re-check all its connection, plugs, cards and connectors and turn it on again but the same strange sound came and without a display. Since there's no display so I concentrated first with the PCI display card and I noticed an additional clip was installed that pushed towards the board tightly. I released/ removed the clip

I've been looking a second hand PC for quite sometime for my son because I can't afford yet to buy him a new one. But one day, when one of my friend/neighbor moving house, I helped them and afterwards we throw their unneeded things to the re-cycling plant. After unloading all the rubbish, I saw a PC lying on the ground so I grab it without hesitation and took it home. I was so excited with my new found treasure and so is my son. I cannot wait another day to fix it so I open it, clean it and check if all components were intact. Surprisingly, what I saw from the outside (before taking it) reveals what are inside – a complete system. Make a list of all its components e.g. display card, sound card, motherboard, HDD, modem etc. for driver references in case necessary. Check as well as the power supply and found to be okay. But when I turn it on, it gave me a strange sound and without a screen display. So I re-check all connections, push down all plugs, cards and connectors. Turn it on again but the same strange sound and without display, did not even hear the POST coming. Since no display, so I concentrated first with the display card and I noticed an additional clip/tie installed with it that kept it tightly connected to the board. I released it and removed the card for curiosity to check why a clip was added. Then push the card back to the board without the clip just for a try, turn it on and VOILA it work just fine.
I was even more surprise to discover after checking the system that it's Athlon 1000 Mhz processor, a 40GB HDD, 256 RAM complete with Win ME OS, a DVD Rom and a CD-ReWriter, even the mouse and keyboard work well after doing basic maintenance together with a 17” CRT. Now my son is enjoying so much his own PC offline or online especially after reformatting it, partitioning it to two, upgrade the operating system to WinXP Pro, bought and installed NIC, connected it P2P with my old Laptop to share with my broadband connection. Not a bad find at all from the re-cycling plant.
My other achievement is editing and recording onto audio CD our Church Sunday services using an open editor/recorder software Audacity.

I left university with a degree which had no real career path and left me unemployed for several months resulting in depression with no real idea of what I wanted to do ith my life. I saw an advert on the internet for IT training through skills train and decided this May be the way to go.
After the initial interview I was very excited about the career prospects and courses available. I decided I would work from the ground up and with the advice of the skills train staff, I picked a certification plan which would help me achieve this.
After starting my course I began to look for work in IT but was rejected due to lack of experience. I decided to gain an office job to enable me an entry point into the IT industry.
After completing the A+ I began to apply for jobs within IT, my first interview went well and an offer was made, I was delighted. The company I work for were very interested in the course and its benefits to myself and them. I have been given time to study during work and I am now half way through the N+. Since starting this I have been given a rise which can be accredited to the extra knowledge I have learnt from the N+.
Taking up a course with skills train has really improved my confidence and given me an excellent career path which is very clear and obtainable. Thank you.

Since I have started the A+ training in January 2007 I had no prior knowledge of hardware components or how to build a PC. However by fantastic support and advice from my tutors and the study materials I have been able to gain a better understanding. This has enabled me to fix my old PC back together by attaching additional memory cards and up-to-date components to the PC, in order for it to work faster and more efficiently. Therefore in the future I can apply my knowledge gained throughout this hardware course to real life situations and it will definately benefit my future IT career aspirations.
