Today, I have single handedly configured 2 Cisco Wireless Bridges for a customer of my employers. The wireless bridges needed to be configured so that the SSID was hidden (i.e. not broadcasted so that a wireless Network Adapter could pick it up). Both bridges needed an indentical 128bit WEP Key. They also needed to be configured so that only my employers could gain remote access to each bridges console.

I enrolled in SkillsTrain because I wanted to spend time with my family more when they get to the UK next year.
I was an HR professional for more than 10 years now - more than 3 in the UK and another 7 in my country, the Philippines. I enjoyed working in HR, don't get me wrong, but I've grown tired of having to work beyond my time in the office and then having to take home work to do over the weekend.
My wife and I are planning to bring our children in the country next year - I've been separated with my daughter for more than 2 years and I've hardly seen my son grow. When they get to join us in the UK, I just want to spend as much time with them as I can.
I will complete A+ and N+ so I can be part self-employed, repairing PC's and laptop's or setting up and maintaing networks for small companies. I will also complete MCSA so I can work part-time or work full time with some days working at home - I know that with current technology, System's Administration can easily be done remotely at home. It is still hard work but at least I will have several earning options which would allow me to be with my kids.
With help from SkillsTrain, all this will become a reality.

After 20 years in Reinsurance (Insurance) working for Lloyds' Brokers and Underwriters , I had had enough of slogging up to London every day. I had always had IT (computers) as a hobby starting with the VIC 20, BBC Micro and Amiga in the '80's and decided that if I could turn my hobby into a profession I might be happier. Last year I signed up with Skillstrain and passed my N+ in December. I have since got a job as a a Support And Systems Engineer with a very reputable firm in Crawley. I now drive to work through the countyside and enjoy what I do (regardless of my current salary). I am being encouraged to continue with my MCSA/MCSE and I have a renewed sense of purpose! Thank you.

I was first attracted to your courses, because of the flexibilty of being able to study around my commitments. Having like most people a very busy and quite often hectic life. I have been studying for some time and have received quite good marks throughout the course. The work is sometimes quite taxing, but always rewarding knowing that you have gained a little bit more of that knowledge you require. When I first started the course I was a sort of "can i" person, however as I have progressed through the course I have seen my self confidence grow and now feel that I have gone from this "can i" person to a "I can do"person. I have worked in a manufacturing enviroment all of my working life, but felt that I wanted more out of my working career, I was prepared to search for this career elsewhere if necessary. However recently a position became availiable in my company. This position was a salaried and staff rated position.I applied for for position and recently attended an interview which I admit was quite nerve racking, but with my confidence high answered all ther questions as best as I could . Well I am pleased to be able to say that I was succesful, and start my new career with my own office etc after the bank holiday. I am positive that starting and studying on this course has helped me and boosted my self confidence alot and am looking forward to my new career and it challenges.

I have achieved between 80% & 100% on most of my assignments (1 -14) & have recently been teaching my computer ignorant husband how to use the internet. Before starting this course I knew very little about computers but now have a very indepth knowledge & am able to sort out most problems I experience with mine.

I have recently started the course and am well on the way to sending my TMA 02. I was recently made unemployed and paying for the course looked like it wouldnt happen. I was still studying the course and it was extremely difficult as I was being pressured by my bank regarding mortgage repayments. I have found new employment and am hard at the studying, already I have learned a heck of a lot and its all thanks to joining you!!!

Recently I changed ISP, because I've moved house. It took quite a while for my new ISP to send me the new modem and installation pack, so I tried to connect my wireless router what I used before with my previous ISP. I could see that I have DSL connection, but I still could not reach the Internet. Thanks for my studying about wireless networking, I could find enough information to set up the router, and now I have a secured, fast wireless internet. My neighbour is an old lady, who is also started to study how to use computer, and she likes history. I took my laptop to her, so she could use my internet to find information about her relatives even from 18th century!

I was made redundant after thirty years in the catering industry at Christmas 2006. I enrolled with Skillstrain, and started my course in January of this year. Because of the knowledge I have already gained from studying the course materials, I have managed to get a job, not only in IT, but actually showing people how to use their computers.

Past my first assignment with 90%, first time and looking foward to a better result on my next. Full of excitment about my course.

As a student of skillstrain you don't really know what you made up of until you are confronted with challenges.
My first challenge was choosing a computer for my uncle and being responsible for maintaining and ensuring that the computer is in good condition, I almost refuse knowing am still a student not yet a certified pc specialist. The pc came with a security software installed in it, he wanted to replace the security software with another which I advice him not to do. Few days latter he told me about an error message that keep popping up, it has not made him enjoyed using the pc. After a brief questioning he finally told me he removed the anti virus software that came with the pc which I warned him not to remove. The bad thing about this error message is that even when you click ok it appears within the next few seconds, but with the knowledge I gained from my course materials I was able to solve the problem even when the manufactures support department could not do any thing about it. So far I have been able to solve two more problems due to human fault on the pc. Ever since then I suddenly developed this confidence of carrying out maintenance on his pc and my brother's laptop. As PC specialist confidence is a must have , if you don't have it then its not there but with skillstrain you are assured .

Using the skills I have been Learning on this course, I have managed to fix a friends computer that would not work, or recognise HD drives, by using what I had learnt and reconfiguring his BIOS.
-Matthew
Finished A+ part of my course and only 3 TMAs away from finishing N+ then to start the Cisco training. This is all done as well as holding down a full time job and in a busy family environment.

The last couple of months have been particularly difficult for studying as my father has been ill in hospital after his lung collapsed. Although this is not the first time this has happened ,on this occasion he had severe complications and was transferred between two hospitals after his condition deteriorated. Travelling to visit him and also to help my mother whilst he was in hospital took up a lot of time but with the family's encouragement I managed to continue with my studies and maintained my 90 - 100 % result record. Dad is now on the way to a good recovery for which we are all very grateful.

YESTERDAY (09/05/07) I WROTE MY COMPTIA N+ (N10-003) WHICH I PASSED. I AM VERY EXCITED AND MORE MOTIVATED THAN BEFORE, AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DAY I WILL BE SITTING MY CCNA EXAM. I AM VERY GREATFUL TO ALL THE NUMBERS OF THE TUTORIAL TEAM. WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE I THINK I WOULD HAVE STRUNGLED. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOU ARE DOING.

I would like to be voted because I feel that this is a massive step in my life to take I am 40 years old married with 3 kids I have no qualifications and a very limited knowlegde of computers. I also work 60 hours a week on nights and its really hard to get the motivation to complete my course and my only motivation is my family I'm doing it for them as much as me. also my first tma I sent in I only got a 60% mark which hurt but with the support of aminna I re submitted for the second time and got 100% and thats really got me going. I cant wait for the rest of the course.
