COMING INTO THIS COURSE WITH VERY BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF A PC, I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS I HAVE RECIEVED,85,87,100,90%. AS I AM GOING ALONG, AND RE-READING AREAS I DIDNT UNDERSTAND FULLY THE FIRST TIME, IT IS GETTING MORE INTERESTING.ITS THE BEST DECISION I HAVE MADE IN YEARS.

I only expected to complete one TMA a month, but in the month of May I have now competed seven TMA's all with high scores and I intend to have Section 1 Part A completed by the 1st of June.

Even though I am only on my TMA 08 I have understood what I have been learning well enough to the extent that I went out to my local components shop and bought all the necessary components and hardware to build a PC. IT took me two days to build and just over £180 as I already had a copy of windows XP in the house. Then I advertised it in the free local paper,the next day a gentleman from Falkirk purchased the PC for £450 which was the asking price. A good profit but still a good buy for the gentleman as the PC contained 1536mb of ram a 17" TFT Monitor which I got NEW for £75, XP pro, 400w psu, dvd-r combo drive, 120gb hdd, pentium Celeron D, etc... not bad as I must be one of the youngest students here at just 17 with my own flat and paying for the course myself and the broadband connection. I feel it is essential to apply myself to something I am interested in and also get a great career out of it too.Also I have got 100% on TMA 04 which was a good improvement as my score was gradually going down since TMA01, I am managing to get a grips with proper studying time and am able to concentrate better as a result I have just submitted TMA05 but have done up to TMA08 already mainly due to the use of your study time table I downloaded which was very helpful.

Passed my CompTIA A+ Certification exams. Changed jobs within the company, no longer a factory floor worker, but now I am doing a desk job.

Over the last month using skills I have aquired through my training, I have managed to install a 120 GB Hard Drive, install a DVD +/- Re-Writable Drive, partition the new hard drive and transfer a large quantity of Software and Files across to the new drive. Whilst installing the new hard drive I was able to set the dip switch to master / slave correctly and using the knowledge gained through the course, found the appropriate driver for the device on the net. I feel I am really starting to get to grips with the course content and find myself searching the net for addition information to further my understanding of the lessons.

I am now working in a first line IT possition which I never thought would be possible until I started my coures. I feel I am gainig the experience that will help me on the completion of my course.

My Achievements are that my PC hardware and maintanance knowledge has grown and now I feel alot more confident when I come across a problems with my own PC or family members and even friends PC's, and if there is a new problem I just grab my PC Hardware and Maintenance manual which helps me to identify and troubleshoot the problem then hopefully fix it.

I believe that I have studied really hard this month to reach the position in the course that leaves me just one section to complete on the Server section, before moving on to Site Designer, which will be the final section in my course. In reaching this point, I feel that I have also gained good marks along the way. Thank you.

Since I started this course in April 2005, I've learned more about computers, which I did not learn from other free evening classes. Now I am at the last book of the course(section 4-part B), which covers front page, dreamweaver, flash, fireworks, homesite, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, XML, perl and My SQL. I now know what employers are willing to pay for; I have more confident to apply for web design jobs online. I am also planning to build my own web site this web site is for anyone who want to buy a webpage and upload their ads or personal idea. Truetype will also build a full web site with support and maintenance. Learning web design has given me lots of ideas, in online business and I am planning to use my cartoonist skills to build a cartoon web site. This is the first website I built since I started this course.

Working under pressure and still managing to continue with the course work. I moved countries last year from UK to Australia, I was on my own with 3 kids for 3 months, moved houses twice in Australia. I now have managed to get a full time job with an internet company in Oz. I am still the primary carer and look after my house and kids, however I believe I am still achieving at least 80% pass rate on my coursework.

I installed and administered 3 wired and a wireless LAN consisting of 3 desktop PC and a laptop sharing a single ADSL (broadband) connection accessing the WWW at the same time without a problem. It's a great feeling to accomplished something really practical applying my learning from CIW course.

I have now completed the Perl course Web Languages Section 2 Part B. I am 53 and have never studied computer languages in my life. I hope to have a job as a web designer and have already linked up with a qualified established web designer and we are working on our first site using code only!

Over the last month a lot has happened that has placed me in a more comfortable position when it comes to IT and computer related operations. I studied Marketing in my Bachelor's degree and knew nothing about computers. I started this web developer course to give me an insight into what was involved in the computing discipline as I was also about to start my Masters degree in Computing and information systems. I have been able to attend my university programme to the end and graduate successfully without any need to rewrite any of my exams... this was my singular dream in school. I was able to keep working on my tutor marked assignments and coordinate it with my job (as a 1st line support staff) all this time, initially it seemed like a huge burden but now I'm used to it. With my masters degree now over, I know I can dedicate even more time to my ciw studies. The icing on the cake is that with all the work and qualifications so far, I have just been accepted on a permanent role in a better company to do a much better job in IT and for much more pay. I was overjoyed when the phone call came and the speaker informed me of my success at the interview, I kept asking, "are you sure?", because it still felt like a huge shock. I also have to say that my results have improved clearly in the TMAs, I would say that I have an average scoreline of about 95% as things stand now, but this was very shaky when I started the course.
I know I have gained a lot since I started this course, and the hands-on method of study has been of great help to me, especially over the past month.

I work as a manager in a Residential Care Home for young adults with mental health problems, and it can be very stressful for me at times combining studying with this job. But I think I am trying. I recently encouraged one of them to buy a laptop and he had a problem working around it. Though I haven't used the Windows Vista Opeating System before, I tried with my experience in Xp to help resole the problem. He now calls on me for any difficulty he encounters.

Thanks to my course (Website Design Manager) I managed to design a website for pub-restaurant in Edinburgh.

I now know what a website is and I now know how it operates and I have learnt how to develop the web through my course,I think doing this course has made me understand the function of the web.This course is so helpful with loads of things but the top one is that I can now do the things I like most being on the web business.

I have just recieved the results for my fifth TMA submitted inside a month as to which I recieved a 2nd 100% mark. The results that I recieved this month was 100%, 75%, 83%, 95%, and 100%.
I have been working really hard and will be doing so until the course is complete.

Whilst working full time as a nurse and suffering from chronic back pain. I have continued my course studying hard and getting fairly good results. I am determined that this spinal disorder will not hinder my success in the world of IT.

Having done tma 2 and got 60% was told to redo it, after I was ready to do tma3, I forced my self to stay awake till 1am at night to do it to avoid further delays even though I am a single mum of 2 under 9 years old,I have to work in the morning and it is my birthday I should be out celebrating, but my future is worth staying awake for as the rest of my years will be the best.

In completing the first Section in this course, I now can have an intellectual discussion with the IT Web designer at my school about networking, and website design. I have indeed impressed some of my colleagues. As well I finally feel comfortable teaching IT to my primary school children. Before, when teaching an IT lesson,I used to call in the 'IT' guy to assist when problems occurred. Now, I am able to help the children when problems arise. I have also managed to keep increasing my score on my tests with a higher average each section I complete. I jump up and down each time I get 100%. I feel like I have achieved a great deal in the past few months and I feel the rewards.

Firstly I would like to thank skills train for this opportunity to do something with my life. I am a 40 year old mother & wife,all my previous jobs have revolved round the children with their school holidays etc. my daughter is currently doing her standard grades & my son will follow her soon. I am constantly telling my children how important education is, but have none myself and feel a bit hypocritical. I am managing the course so far and I am really pleased with the results from my TMA's and feel really excited about my future as I have never achieved anything like this before. My daughter told me last night that she was proud of me but more importantly I AM VERY PROUD OF MYSELF. So thank you once again.

I WOULD FIRST LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE AT SKILLS TRAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT THEY HAVE GIVEN SO FAR, I AM A N+ STUDENT I STARTED AT THE BEGINING OF THE YEAR AND HAVE BEEN TRYING HARD TO COPE WITH THE COURSE, I GOT MARRIED LAST YEAR WITH ONE CHILD AND MY WIFE IS CURRENTLY IN THE UNIVERSITY STUDYING THATS WHY I HAVE HAD TO TAKE A HOME LEARNING COURSE. I HAVE A DIPLOMA IN (MIS- management of information systems) WHICH I GOT IN 2003 BUT I HAVE WANTED MORE SKILLS AND KNOWLEGDE ON NETWORKING THATS WHY I ENROLLED FOR THE COURSE. I WORK AS A SUPPORT WORKER IN A SMALL HOME WHERE I SUPPORT 4 PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES, I ENJOY MY WORK AND IT FITS IN WITH MY COURSE AND FAMILY AT THE MOMENT THOUGH SOMETIMES ITS A TIGHT SQUEEZE OF TIME. I HAVE GIVEN 110 PERCENT ON MY COURSE AND I READ THE COURSE MATERIAL OFFERED THOUROUGHLY. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL AT THE SKILLS TRAIN AGAIN FOR ALL THE WONDERFULL WORK THAT THEY ARE DOING.
