IT Training Courses Certification Reviews
Since starting the course I have changed jobs and I am now a bus driver, in the last 5 months I have had to learn 34 bus routes and change my lifestyle to shift work after haveing a 9-5 job for 23years.

In July 2006, I separated from my wife and had to give up work to look after my two children. They both still live with me full-time, and as you can imagine, life isn't easy bringing up two young children single-handed. As I left school with no qualifications, there isn't really that many options for me workwise at the moment to earn enough to pay for childcare and still have money for bills etc. at the end of the month. In September last year, I decided that it would be better for me to spend my free time studying to gain qualifications so I could get a better job in the future once the kids have got a bit older. I decided that I would like to work with computers and looked for courses that would help me gain the relevant qualifications. I decided that I liked the idea of the PC engineering course that Skillstrain were offering and signed up for it in September last year. Since I started the course, I have had one setback, where I had to restart the course again from scratch with the new 2006 objectives, as I knew that I wouldn't be able to complete the old 2003 objectives and be ready to take the exam by the end of June 2007. Although it is hard for me find time to devote to studying, through what I have learnt up to now, I have been able to fix problems with my own PC, which I would never had been able to do if I had not been doing the course. Hopefully when I have finished the course, and pass the exams, then I will be ready to start looking for work again, and be able to get a worthwhile job, not something pointless like a trolley collector at Sainsbury's, or a shelf stacker at Tesco's. I'm just looking forward to gaining the qualifications and being able to get back to work and be able to provide for my children again.

While being diagnosed with depression 4 weeks ago,I thought my chances of getting on with the course would fade. But with willpower and enthusiam, I have had the willpower to get through the sections 8 - 11 part 1 of the A+ COURSE, with results of 90, 85, 100 and 97%.
Hopefully this drive will bring me out of the depression state that I'm in, and I can strive to finish the second part of the course.

Really enjoyed my first time at LIT. The tutors where very precise and clear. And I have implemented some of the ideas in my studies.
I would like to thank the Tutors and look forward to my next LIT class.

When I started this course I just came out of the Hospital with a very serious infection in my kidneys .I was looking for a course I could study from home which would make it easier for me,then I recieved a flyer from skilltrain I had a look at it and I found that web designer was the most interesting subject to me.I didn't know a lot about computers but now with this course I am learning a lot. This course has saved me because of the nature of my disability I cannot go out on the buses and trains to the Universities. I can study from my own home and copping with my disability in the mean time. Studying harder has improved my assigment a lot. Skillstrain is the Training to success.

Last week I submitted my first TMA, I had been struggling to take in the vast amount of info involved in this course and had even pondered giving up but I got my head down and studied till I felt comfortable with this info. So I submitted my TMA and the results came back at 100%, I couldn't believe it. This has now giving me the confidence to power through, and I shall be ready for my second TMA very shortly. Thanks to my tutor for the help. Top notch.
-Thomas
I achieved a fantastic result in my 1st and second TMA I put my 100% effort into each TMA and achieved the goal I wanted I am now really pleased with my self considering I didn't know much about IT before I started the course and now I understand everything from TCP/ISP servers to know how email programmes work. Having to complete the CIW course I am also a student at college doing A levels I recently took my examinations and received the grades I wanted
- A in Law
-Pass in citizenship
- C/C in Health + social Care
Doing two things at once has put me under a lot of pressure but I have put my mind to both things and have and definitely will work to the best of my ability to succeed at passing my exams at college and completing the CIW course fully and successfully.

This training is potentially life changing for me. In 1993 I was rushed to hospital with meningitis, and I haven't been able to work since. The last 14 years have been a battle to return to some level of health as my brain, immune system, and energy were severely affected by the virus. Progress has been slow, learning to read again, gradually increasing my activity levels, trying new medicines and supplements - and there have been many setbacks along the way. Finally, I've managed to get into a position where I'm reliably able to concentrate for a few hours per day, so it's time to start getting some work skills back in place and try to change my life situation. My aim is to earn enough working from home to set me free from the state benefit system.
I started the CIW Website Design Manager course about 9 weeks ago, and I'm so excited to be learning again. I'm devoting about 4 hours per day to study, and I'm finding the way the course is structured really good in helping me to progress without being overwhelmed by the amount of work. Each lesson contains just the right amount of information, and then themes are picked up and explored in more depth as you progress. I'm about to submit my fifth TMA, and I've achieved a solid 100% in every assessment so far. It's not easy, but a little determination gets me there. I haven't had to ask the tutors for help so far, but it's reassuring to know they are there if needed.
My father's support has been invaluable to me. He has funded the course for me, and knowing he believes in me enough to invest his hard-earned cash spurs me on. Every time I think of slacking off I see him writing that cheque with a smile on his face, and think of how happy my friends and family are to see me doing something to get my life back, and I put my backside on a seat and hit the books. I can't wait to see their faces when I get that first commission, pay cheque, and of course that all important certificate!
-Jane
I'm only on my first folder and I know it might not sound like a great achievement to some people but getting a 100% on nearly all my TMA's feels good to me and being able to sit and study on my own and not have to be pushed to do my course is an achievement to me.

I had been plagued by the usual "getting bogged down in the daily going to work not finding time to do my course" for about 10 months, and then realised what I really wanted to be doing with my life, which is web design and I need to be making a lot of effort to get this course done. So for the last 6 or 7 weeks I've been getting the course done and TMA's submitted on the day I get the next access code. My marks have all recently been 100% so that for me is pleasing and spurring me on to get the next one done.
I have recently started to advise my brother who is a mortgage broker/financial advisor type and some of his associates on setting up an investment property website. We have looked at google's top 10 websites for "investment property" "off plan property" "auction property" search terms - and decided which features of each site we like. I have been analysing and breaking those sites down into various components and what technologies power them. I advised them to get www.InvestmentProperty.UK.com as a domain name for SEO reasons. We then looked at the differences in hosting platforms and decided to go with Apache framework for security benefits. On that we are going to be running user authentication and property databases via the PHP MySQL and PHPMyAdmin method for reason of it being open source and a large user base with plenty of help forums. Now all that has been decided I have set up my development machine with Apache PHP MySQL and PHPMyAdmin. I got some ebooks on PHP MySQL and am self learning these technologies before my course has covered it... I am totally loving and finding it very rewarding to be able to learn these things and put them into action and see it all working in a web browser.
As of about a week ago I have even learnt how to pass variables from PHP into flash (into waiting dynamic textareas and moviclip areas - had to learn flash action script 2 for this) and back again to make a prototype bespoke dynamic property presentation system. On the flash I have put a play pause button and an enquiry button.
Now this is the bit I'm really pleased about.... The enquiry button passes the property ID to a php script which then queries the sql table for price, location, short description. The user ID is obtained from the log-in session cookie and the sql user authentication table is queried for first name, surname, town, and phone number. Then all the gathered property and user information is relayed to the user to confirm in a form where they choose the day and time they want a phone call, there is also an additional text area for comments. then of course a submit button and at that point the completed form is emailed to the user and also to enquiry site.
To see all this taking shape and working is really inspirational.
It's surging ahead a bit but... I said I would help them out and I figure its a good platform to learn with a real life project that has a possibility of turning into a new full time job.

Having recently been made redundant, I have started a small business along with studying with Skillstrain on the web design foundation course.
Before starting this course I would never have had the confidence to even consider starting out on my own. I now aim to use the skills I learn on this course to include web design as part of my business.
I would like to thank skillstrain for giving me the confidence to make a fresh start with my life when I thought it was all over.

After much studying and hard work it has finally paid off and I have achieved three interview dates with local companies. I have had one interviewer where they were very impressed with the skills I have learnt so far on the CIW Web design course. I myself have found the course material excellent and am continuing to enjoy learning even more skills throughout my studying. Even friends and parents have remarked how impressed they are with my achievements to date! I didn’t know a thing really about XHTML or how the web worked, now in 6 months I am able to design web pages, which to me feels great!
-Sarah
I've already completed TMA01 and TMA02 within a month passing both assignments. I got 100% for TMA01 and 85% for TMA02 not bad for someone who knew nothing about computers before I started this course. I also found it difficult to find the time to study because of work commitments and looking after my 2 and a half year old daughter who stays over my house three times a week.
-Christopher
At first, there was so much to take in and learn. However after lots of studying and many hours revision, I got to my first TMA 01. It May have took me a little while to learn everything but it was sure worth it, when I got my results of 100%. Now I am about to submit my TMA 02 and can't wait to continue through my course. This for me, was the best achievement of all.
-Janine
I am severely dyslexic and love computers. I have done four assignments this month (June) and have found it very hard as there was a lot of reading and a lot of new work to understand. I am glad I persevered. I have also helped a few of my friends with computer problems as they know I like to help and can't say no to a challenge.
-Margaret
Excellent session, amazing how difficult it is to remember lists of letters or numbers! I had never thought of using revision cards but will now - like the idea of using colour coded cards for different topics. Thanks for the pointers!!
-Deborah
VERY GOOD LECTURE. I AM GOING TO IMPROVE MY STUDY HABITS. THANKS
-Ebele
