I did not know much about computers before I started my courses A+, N+ and MCSA. Personally I feel I have achieved alot as when I started the courses I also started to build my own home and was working from 7am till 7pm 7 days a week for 2 years and trying to fit in all my studying too. It was hard work and I have nearly finished all my course work now with nearly all 100% marks for assignments. I feel really pleased with my achievements so far and I have moved in my new house now. for me it is a big achievement as I have been suffering health problems too and I am considered to be disabled and recieve disability allowance. I am thinking of starting my own buisness repairing computers as I regulary fix, upgrade and build pc's for friends and family. My next course I think will be web design. Thank you skills train for giving me the chance to study from home as it suits my circumstances studying from home.

I've started learning A+ in December 2006 and am currently studying for TMA05. I thought that I would know most of the course but I have realised there is so much more to be learnt in great detail. So far I have been achieving 90% and above and feel great about it. I am feeling more motivated about completing this course and starting the next part.
Most of all I feel that I have gained knowledge that can help me in my future career and its brilliant to know that my mind is expanding in this field.

I have surprised myself improved greatly by improving the results of my last couple of Tutor Marked Assignments, even though I have had to increase my working hours and also under the undesired stress of divorce. (PS my freinds and neighbours are constantly at me to fix their problems too!
-Richard
As a serving member of the RAF since starting this course I have been deployed to Iraq, and posted to N Ireland, my wife has also recently given birth, and yet I have still submitted the TMA's and I believe have gotten consistently good marks.

Finding it hard to fit time to study into my very busy life ,due to starting work at 5.30 am and finishing at 4.00 pm ,and then looking after my ten year old daughter as my wife works till 9.00 pm. time to knuckle down to it ,studied every chance I had even in work ,had a few warnings of my boss for reading in work ,so I decided to build my own pc,bought the mother board and a pentium 4 dual core proccesor, case, ddr2 ram, dvd& cd r/w combo, floppy drive ,19" monitor and keyboard and mouse and windows xp o/s and a 200gb sata hard drive, total cost to build £490,built pc in under 2 hours installed o/s ,checked cmos ,everything working fine, decided to sell pc ,sold it for £500 and took another pc in part ex as I had put pc up for £600, upgraded the older pc and sold it for £300 ,not to bad for a man who so much going on in his mind and not enough hours in a day, thankyou.

I feel I should win student of the month for completing all TMA's in under a month and you got to be in it to win it so why not try
-Anthony

My achievements... Well where to start. I have been finding the course extremely enjoyable and cant wait to progress through it and try to take my exams in June.
Well back to my achievements. I have had a rough start to the year firstly by having two family members pass away in the same week and then having to find the time to deal with that and concentrate on my course. As I realised when I was doing my course during that period it had given me the desire to succeed and want to pursue the best quality of life and get the best from it like my family members had done before their departures.
But I know that I need to do this for me and that I will, but something will be always dedicated to the people I have lost. I have gained the drive and motivation needed to get me through this busy and rather eventful year so far and the last thing I will say is:
Loved ones will come and go, but its the memories we have that make them eternal.

The reason why I think I could be a good contender for the 'student of the month' is because I left school with no GCSE's,then ive been car valleting for 3 yrs.but iv had no belief in myself that I can do better in life and then thats were I found skills train,im on my second TMA and allready im realli enjoying the teaching. Now im graitfull for the opportuninty.

In the last month I have found it difficult to concentrate 100% on my course as I have found out my nana is dieing of cancer. Throughout this time I have been traveling 60 miles from Worksop to Manchester and then back every weekend and Yet I have managed to successfully send in two tutor marked assignments and achieve a score of 100% on both I have also sent off my third assignment and awaiting the results which I hope to achieve 90% or higher. I am using this hard time of my life to push myself to achieve something with my life, The last month has been hard but I feel proud of my achievments.

Since starting my course on 24th January I have submitted and passed all assignments on the Comptia A+ up to TMA 5 with 2 at 100% and a miniumum pass of 87%. I have recently submitted TMA number 5 and I am working towards TMA 6 already.

I used to be the kind of person who needs reminding to do something. But now, I can lift myself and motivate myself to read and do the tutor marked assignments. Ever since I started education, I needed a person to be present and tell me what to do next. Coming over that and getting used to communicating by email or telephone and achieving the necessary outcome (learning) is one of my biggest achievement.
-Yared
Started the course thinkin that its so hard and that I was wasting my time, until I did my first exam, I did not get the mark I was aiming for but it still passed and now I am COMPTIA A+ certified thanks to skills train.

TRYING TO BLEND MY REALLY BUSY LIFE WITH THE COURSE WORK IS NOT EASY AT ALL. I WORK 7 DAYS NOW; 5 DAYS WITH HONDA CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY AND WEEKENDS WITH McDONAL'S RESTAURANT. I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD WHO REALL DEMANDS MY ATTENTION DAILY. SINCE JANUARY, I DEVOTED 2 HRS IN THE MORNING FOR STUDIES BEFORE WORK (I.E. 4 AM - 6 AM) AND IT'S ACTUALLY HELPING ME CONTINUE MY COURSE WORK. I HAVE SUBMITTED 3 ASSIGNMENTS IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS AND I AM HAPPY WITH THIS ACHIEVEMENT. THANK YOU.

Doing a PhD and an IT course at the same time is no easy task and I feel very proud that while pushes the limits with my research work I have still been able to move through the work in this course at a very fast pace.
Also I feel very happy that my performance has remained consistenetly above 90% throught all the TMAs I have submitted so far.
-Asif
I managed to push myself finally to focus more on finishing the course well prepared for the exam. It's quite difficult for me as I have been working on a shift basis since I started the course. Apart from that English is not my native language so I struggled really recently to keep submitting last TMA's. But I feel now more focused know to complete CISCO TMA's quicker and with even more in-deep study.
-Marek
I HAVE COMPLETED 3 ASSINGMENTS AND WORKING THE BEST I CAN TO DO THE REST I WILL START MY NEXT ASSINGMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND SEND BY STUDENT WORLD. HOPE I WIN
-Tashan
I have accelerated with my course and that too without compromising with the results.
This course is definitely helping me to understand more in detail about the Cisco products.

With not having my own PC at home, I'm having to rely on the public ones at my local library in order to do my course. I am currently working on TMA 16 of the A+ section, I feel as though I've made good progress given my circumstances and all being well I will be doing my first big exam next month hopefully.

I have set up small home wireless network between my computer - desktop PC, Windows XP Professional, and my friend's laptop - PC Windows XP Media Center Edition. My desktop PC operate with wireless Belkin USB adapter (I have no wireless PCI card). My friends laptop has built in wireless card. I set up connection Ad-Hoc with sharing folders between our computers. Additionaly I share my internet connection with my friend, so she can get internet acces on her laptop by my PC. I don't really know how does it work, but it works. The biggest problem to me was to configure windows firewall. I really hope, that I get enough knowledge during my courses to understand how does it really work and why still hard reset is requested when installing some drivers (wireless belkin USB adapter). Soft reset doesn't work at all. Since my old Atari ST there are still drivers, programs reset resistant.
