My main achievement is my ability to stage a come back to education through the skillstrain after so long time off school. The decision to go for IT training is not easy but I've been able to overcome the fear of getting back which to me a great achievement

I didn't really know anything about computers before I started the course, as I only got my first computer last year. But since starting the course I have improved my knowledge considerably. I dismantled an old computer to get try and link some of the theory in the book with more practical work. I have helped various friends with problems on their computers, such as virus infections that required new protection installed.

I think I deserve a mention this month, as my daughter got married on the 12th of October, and we moved house on the 26th and I still managed to submit TMA13 in N+ is that stress and trauma or what?

From knowing very little about pc repair in my view I have managed to pass every tma that I have submited to date. This is mainly thanks to the teaching methods used like powerpoint and the book being fairly clear. But I have also suprised myself with what I already knew(if not the tech terms)and the rate that I have been able to digest information so far.I know it will get a lot harder but what I have learnt so far will only help me in the future.

After being made redundant in June 2007 following 19 years service I thought that my life had become a living nightmare. With a wife and two dependants the pressure was building to make a decision about our future as the chances of being employed in the same job was looking bad. Now I am studying on the Skillstrain towards my CIW website manager qualification and my future looks much brighter. In the interim I am looking for a low paid job until I complete my course, but once I do that then my potential earning are greater than they ever have been.

Can not wait until that day arrives and the feeling of being USELESS will be lifted.

I am a mother of 4, 2 of which are disabled at 14 years of age. I have been on many courses (dental technology, interior design and nursing) but with the twins growing up and needing most or all of my attention at home they were all short lived. Doing a course like this, from home means I am there when they want me and still have time to study, sometimes it is hard work but to better our future is what is allways in sight, plus I have 2 other children which need my love and attention too

So far I have achieved a lot being a student of skillstrain
I now have a knowledge of what it takes to be a website design manager . Obviously it has enchance my ability in day to day activity. It is quite encouraging handling assignments and working on the computer frequently and at this same time challenging .

I have just recently started my course in e-commerce and project management. I have achieved good result for three of my assigment that I have done. As being an ICT assistant I have applied my skills and knowledge that I have learnt from my course to the student who are lower ability and this has improved their understanding of different aspect of ICT e.g. the overview of networks etc.

I am really greatful that I have joined skills training this has widen my job career and my knowledge in more depth.

Despite having a pregnant wife and hectic work commitments I have suprised myself by working ahead of schedule often completing asignments before I get a response from the previous one. Some of the sections have been very challenging but I managed to overcome the obstacles by working through them. I have now just taken my first public exam and passed on first attempt. I have now acheived the status of Microsoft Certified Professional. I am now looking forward to the next part of the course.

My little advice for any student who want to study, especilly those who have no opportunity to study but you have change your mind to choose a career to study, It is my encourangement for you to contiue your education for the benefit of your future. I regard education as the best of choice, as more as you study regularly you will understand your area of duty both in the office and at home. More or less we have homework, whereby you will use your computer for your private Job at home. Therefore student who choose Computer training have the best choice in life.

I work hard (4 to 5 hours a day) to keep my TMA notes always between 90 and 100 percent. Actually I am going to connect 2 PC via a 802.11(wireless) for my LABs and exercices (my pingings and tracings) for a good understanding of the Open System Interconnection' Layers.
My work is actually based on virtual PC (a Windows 2003 server) where I work with my protocols (IP, TCP, and UDP).
I am only in the begining of my course(Network plus) but I think I do much than well and much than what my tutor team is expecting to have from me.

Finally I have moved ahead with my study and I submitted 2 TMAs in one week with score of 100%. I have full time job and apart from that a thousand things to do and it was very difficult to organize time for education purpose. I decided then I will study in every free time I have available (on tube, lunch break etc.) and I do so and hope to keep going. In the mid time I have fixed microphone problem for one of my mates. Basically WinXP couldn't see mic and my mate was unable to use it over the Skype. Quick look in the Device Manager and could see that Realtek Device Driver was broken.

I was a mechanic for several years until a sports injury put pay to that so had to change job roles. I then went into general office work for a number of years but nothing too technical. I am now a full time househusband as my wife is the breadwinner, I look after my two young boys (3yr old & 1 yr old) during the day, normally up at 6am so can be quite a tiring day with the energy that they have & as they can be a little demanding sometimes. I have martial arts classes in the evening 3 times a week so have to be very strict with my study timetable but make sure that I get at least 7-8 hours in a week. I started the first two sections of the A+ course 2-3 weeks ago & have achieved 100% & a 90% pass mark respectively, just submitted section 3 so fingers crossed. I consider what I've done so far with my passmarks a great achievement especially when up until recently all I knew about computers was to turn it on, work certain programs & the internet & turn it off again!!

As new student to skills train and a full time worker, I study twice a week and I devote my time to all the course material. I will therefore without an air of resistance let anything hinder my progress as I will make sure not to underscore any of my assignment below 50% mark.

I am 48 years old and it's a long time since I was at school, so I thought I would do something to keep my brain active so I joined skills train. It keeps me active and I am learning a new career I would recommend it to anyone. I am on tma 31a and my Results average 80-100%, don't be disheartened at the beginning if you find it hard, you just have to persevere and carry on. Taking the course was the best decision I made I have learnt so much from the course and if you are stuck on a problem it really is worth asking for assistance. Good luck to all students
