Without finishing my course yet, a lot of people are now asking advice from me about what type of computer to buy.

I have made much progress and my performance so far is encouraging. I am really impressed with the modules and the layout. It's even helping more on my University studies.

I presently work as a Prison Officer, and due to the stress of work I was unable to get on with my course work. It ended up having time off work with Post Traumatic Stress. It was very difficult focusing on anything, having to read my course notes three or four times for it to make sense. I have always enjoyed knitting but even to do that I had to go back to basics and read how to do everything in short all my automatic thinking went back to controlled thinking. So to get the marks in my assignments that I have has been a great boost to myself.

Now I am nearing the end of my A+ course it has given me the confidence to start looking for jobs in my local area. Last Saturday I went to an open recruitment day for a local company at the International Hotel. I will find out in the New Year if I have made it for at least an interview. So I must thank SkillsTrain for giving me the confidence to go out there and try to change my life.

I think we all struggle at some point with our studies, so I always think of this quote to get me back on track: "successful people do what unsuccessful people don't"

Starting this course has giving me a real buzz. I have a hectic lifestyle with the job I do, I am a parts manager in the motor trade, the family (2 small kids and the wife) but I also have a chronic illness which means that I am in and out of hospital alot. I also had two operations before I started this course, so it has been really hard going, but reading the course guides is very interesting and I am learning alot more that I thought I would be able to. I have submited my first two assigments and got 100% for the first and 90% for the second which is way above my expections. I have just sent my 3rd assignment to the tutors and hopefully I will get similar results.

In all my career as hardware maintenance engineer I concentrate in maintenance and managing the local area network facilities, and evaluating system performance. However this SkillsTrain programme has opened my horizons especially in the area of system troubleshooting. I can now proudly carryout the basic troubleshooting of any system. I now have full knowledge and understanding of the four models (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network, Novell, and ASID) used in troubleshooting. This knowledge has now further developed my skills in hardware maintenance, because troubleshooting is the backbone of hardware maintenance.

Additional information and knowledge was also acquired in the area of operating systems. I now have a deeper understanding of different types of operating system (Windows, Mac and Linux). This gives me more confidence to carry out maintenance of any type of system, as now I can differentiate types of modules based on their dependability features, application failure features, security features, management and development features, desktop management features, mobile computing features, and networking features.

Finally, I can clearly stated that SkillsTrain has enhanced my capabilities as a hardware maintenance engineer even though there is still more to be learned as the course goes by. I wish to recommend this training for any practitioning hardware maintenance engineer as well as intending persons.

Ever since word got around the workplace that I am taking CIW course with skillstrain ( a warehouse of 250/shift), I have been into a lot of trouble lately with colleagues trying to consult with every computer issue they have at home. So far I have cleaned malwares from laptops and pc's, restored OS's to their pristine conditions, did remote assistance on some and gave useful advice on how to do system maintenance and simple troubleshooting - all pro bono of course except for an odd free cup of coffee at times. Although this might be quite unrelated to web design, once people know you're into computing, they expect you to know everything about computers and mind you, in this era of technology a lot of them still has computer know-how ranging from beginner to novice.

Another friend had me do a simple but presentable website for his business and I managed to have it online and properly working while another wanted me to set-up an online store for which I apologetically bowed out as I am still lacking in skills and understanding in that department. Another friend consulted me into creating an html page for his school presentation in architecture course, which we are doing at the moment.

All in all, Skillstrain has completely re-established my self-esteem and has given me something to look forward to in the near future - career wise; not to mention the warm smile of gratitude you get when you help people out of their computer miseries . I am proud to be taking this course despite the serious time and effort one has to put into it...as I am reaping the benefits (and the stress) of it this early. I'll update you of the progress in three months time. Thanks.

My biggest achievement was being able to do this course. I have tried in the past but never been succesful in finding a course that I wanted to do but skillstrain has made it possible. I will now be able to provide for my two children properly as I am a lone parent without qualifications but when I've finished my course it will be possible for me to get a good job or start my own business. I'm really looking forward to working life, I can't wait.

This month I feel like I have finally made the breakthrough with this course. At the beginning I struggled to understand the basics and felt the confidence I started out with slowly diminishing. But I put in the hours and really pushed myself to learn. My first couple of TMAs weren't great but this month I did two of them and got 90% on both. The tutors have been a great help and the live classes are starting to pay dividends, so to anyone currently struggling: hang in there, success is just round the corner.

Having being made redundant after 19 years with the same company my future was looking bleak until I decided a complete career change and Skillstrain made that possible with their fantastic courses. Currently studying towards my CIW website manager, I feel that my life has a real direction towards my new career. Thanks Skillstrain

I don't usually say things about my myself but it has been such a difficult year I thought why not? I am taking this course to give me a future I was always told would be out of my reach and for a long time I believed these people, I know now that they probably didn't want anymore competition out there!

Since March 2007 I became a full time carer for my elderly mother who has cancer and is very ill. I am so happy to be taking care of her and I am not complaining, however this meant that I have been studying in the middle of the night and averaging only a few hours sleep per night.

I try to study wherever I am, I take my folders with me, wherever I go so If I have an opportunity to study I do. I read my course work on trains and buses and when I do get home to see my partner I spend time with him and then when he goes to bed I stay up and carry on studying.

So I feel considering the year I have had and how sleep deprived I am, I feel I have at least kept my course as up to date as possible. There were nights when I was so tired that I would cry, but then I would think about my potential future and I would get back to my work.

I have read your terms and conditions and I don't mind my story being published as long as my full name isn't used, I hope you don't mind this.

Many thanks and onwards and upwards!

I am very pleased with the level of my understanding of the Web design course. It has not really being easy. I believe the whole thing boils down to the untiring support from tutors, patience and hardwork on my part as well. Thanks to SkillsTrain for assisting me to this far.

The last ICT website competition has come and gone and I am very delighted I was able to make an entry based on the knowledge I have acquired from SkillsTrain.

Skilltrain, there is no adjective to qualify my thanks to you. I am proud of being a student of your college.

Thanks for being there for me.

Since November I've started a new job as website support for a company in Scotland. I believe this happened because I'm a SkillsTrain student!

Since recovering from a severe mental illness and the death of my father after nursing him through his last few months fighting cancer, I have regained a lot of confidence through my achievements in my course. My efforts are paying off as I progress with my course, I have put in a lot of hours studying. My goal is to finish the course and work again as my illness stopped me working for a number of years.

A GP has expressed an interest in my new found abilities and wishes me to advise him and create a website for the practice. He wants a site that is professional and not full of cheap gimmicks. I feel the course is training me to produce exactly what he wants and have assured him that I will deliver the site that is best suited for his GP Practice.

I could not have achieved the level I am currently at with my course had it not been for the solid foundation course materials that the CIW course contains. Also the support that we all receive from the Student world teaching team and the student world website.

I am really enjoying my CIW course. Over the last couple of months I have managed to achieve quite a lot with my course. In fact I have managed to complete 3 TMAs in this month alone and two local primary schools and a church have asked me to design websites for them.

The course has also given me confidence, and I now try to go into my local primary school one afternoon a week to help the children to do the Kids Zone area of the website. I am left in charge of the children in their ICT suite. I never thought I'd have the confidence to do that. After a long illness (which I am still recovering from) all my confidence went. Doing the CIW course has not only given me more understanding of web design, but has fired me up and has given me confidence to talk to potential clients. It has also helped me to push myself forward. I can't wait to go on to the next section of my course as I am hungry to learn everything I can. Thanks.

In my last tutor marked assignment I scored 100%, but the real achievement was that I travelled a great deal within the month. For instance I travelled to Nigeria from the UK twice. Within Nigeria I travelled to various cities, Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Lokoja. This assignment was done during these trips.

Most at times I use a cybercafe to post my assignments. It is interesting that when I have had all the time to study I did not score 100% in any of the assignments but when I was extremely busy, meeting deadlines and attending to clients urgent needs I scored these marks. This is my achievement.

What I did was read my course notes in the planes and in the lounges. This reading has to be done several times because some of the questions are not straightforward. When done, I will go to anywhere I can get connected to the Internet to submit the assignment. In Nigeria the connection is very slow indeed, but I was not discouraged by those problems.

This is a personal one, before I started on my course I always had a problem reading as I would always find words that I didn't understand but now since I have been working on my course it has really increased my vocabulary and reading ability due to needing to look up words I May not understand so I can actually take in what I am reading.

I know it is slightly off from the course but it really has helped me improve my reading and spelling as well as developing my web design management skills obviously.

The Skillstrain is just what I needed to help me become more of a professional when it comes to meeting and talking to people on a business level.

My favorite word I now know the meaning of has to be "concatenation" not even my family knew what that meant.

Thanks for everything guys!

I am currently working for a website design company as a sales person which just involves acquiring new clients, but through my studies with skillstrain on the website design manager course I have been able to demonstrate a much wider knowledge of websites and the Internet and I am also getting involved with the development work. I hope on completion of the course to work solely as a website designer.

I started the course at the end of the April but I wasn't able study from the very beginning because circumstances didn't really work with me, but I was able to work hard so I can settle down and find more time for the course. Now I am able to put some extra hours to study on my lunch and evenings and most of the weekends. English is not my first language but I believe that through perseverance and hard work I am managing to keep to the schedule I have set myself. This course is something a have always wanted to do, and sometimes the work is demanding but I will achieve the result I require to move myself forward.

I have achieved a great deal in my mind, I have learned the meaning of 100+ words that before starting this course, I had absolutely no knowledge of.
I am now able to deal with many situations with my computer which I have had trouble dealing with in the past. I have a 85% pass ratio on my TMA's ( completed 2 so far) and I only started it in November. Recently my sister bought herself a PC, and because of this course I have been able to setup her computer with all the right software and will be able to help her with any troubles she May have.

Since joining Skills Train earlier this year, I have been working on a potential project in Asset Management in Africa. The size of the project is quite enormous and this is meant to put in place a management tool for the client which will enable them a more effective management of their transport fleet, storage facilities as well as administrative operations. I was terribly skeptical over being able to handle the preliminary aspects of this project given the fact that I live in the UK and I am running a training course.

However, over the past four hectic months, I have managed to juggle all these plus family demands - gorgeous wife and two ninja turtles aged 2 and 4 who strongly believe that they are BIG BOYS. I have been awarded the contract for the project for all the client's locations in the entire African continent as well as attracted venture capital funding for the project as well.

I am currently working 40 hours per week on average at my job. Alongside I am trying to write out a PhD research proposal that has to do with corporate roles in environmental destruction. I manage to keep pace with this course because I like it,and it is relevant in most fields of life. Each time I submit an assignment, I seem to have an appreciable score. Reading the notes to understand is not a problem but having time to read for, is the greatest challenge.
