Hi Everyone,

I joined the CIW course to pursue my dream career as a Web designer ad move away from a career in the hotel industry.

Life after our baby was born became very challenging. Managing my career, family commitments and finding time to study was becoming increasingly difficult. I started working late shifts in order to take of our daughter during the day time when my wife was working. Before long I was neglecting my studies and was becoming unfocused. Then I decided one day, after taking stock of the situation, in order to be successful and to lead a excellent life style which will help my wife and child lead a good lifestyle I had to follow my study regime zealously, with a new found enthusiasm.

Now I am much more focused and I have of late progressed at a good pace with excellent grades. I am striving to receive my Part C folder in the foundations (just one assignment left!) I am determined to complete my foundations level exam by this June. I thank all the tutors for their help towards my progress. The material provided is excellent and easy to use. Thank you.

Regards
Linus Praveen

I have worked very consistently towards achieving my goal of gaining an internationally recognized qualification in web design I haven't fought undefinable odds or increased my results. All I have done is work consistently for 4 days every week for over a year with no knowledge of IT and through plain simple hard work and consistency I have passed all my TMA's,some I admit I had to repeat. I even passing javascript which I found very difficult to understand, I've phoned the student helpline and asked for assistance and the tutors tried to assure me I was on track and doing the right thing though there advice was forthcoming my doubts still had to be put to rest. this is when my perseverance and inner strength kept me going and though I haven't finished my course yet I know that I will complete the course just by trying 4 days every week, I accomplish and overcome and each week and with each passed TMA I am already a winner.

I haven't studied seriously since I was in my early twenties but now at 60 I seem to be achieving fairly good results with the course so far. Last assignment result was 100%. This was the second 100% out of the 12 TMA's I have submitted, which has certainly surprised me. I haven't had anything less than 80% and my average is 88%. I don't have any colleagues to confer with so this all has to be done at home at night after work. It can be quite a slog but I look forward to the challenges.

After doing really well so far with my course, I have not been well for a couple of months and am now trying to get back on my feet and continue my course. I am aiming to finish the section I am on at the moment section 2 part A by the end of this month. I have been struggling understanding javascript as its really quite new to me. I know I have the support of the tutor team behind me so I am sure I can achieve this section. It's important for me to finish this course as I have suffered severe illness for the past 7 years and this is my time to get back on my feet and earn a living again. The TMA's so far have been achieved with great success besides one with which I have resubmitted and acheived a 100% pass with. Web design is going to be with us for the foreseeable future so it is an area of computer and networking technology that's is well worth mastering. This is driving me as I enjoy and am always amazed by the power of the Internet as a Marketing vehicle, you can literally reach anyone with internet access all over the world. I am grateful to skillstrain and the tutor team for the professional service they provide for me, and am determined to succeed with my studies. As with my illness it is important to take every step of the way carefully and make sure nothing is overlooked to ensure progress is made.

One good thing about studying my course at skills train (CIW WEB DESIGN MANAGER) is the fact that even at the foundation level you can start earning money already if you actually want.

I have just set up an office and right now I have 5 clients who are really happy and promising more jobs and connections in the future. After I cracked the issue of using css and

for site layout in the section 1 part B of my CIW foundation course, I became more confident to confront clients because it gave me the power to come up with more professional websites. Now I do not only design websites but also offer website help desk assistance to my clients and take up some freelance jobs online. As a matter of fact I now have a total new idea about developing and running a website which I have gladly offered to clients that needs such advice.

Though there are still long ways to go in my course but I'm already confident about the future of it.

It all depends if you want to make use of the skills you are learning at skills train but it sure brings a kind of confidence to go out there , compete and succeed.

I'm really proud of the experience.

I am currently working through the Web Design course, which has not been easy sailing. Working full time, plus additional overtime hours to compensate the lack of wage, I have been trying to work 45 hrs plus keep motivated about the course. Recently, I applied for a job in Web maintenance, which I unfortunately did not get due to my lack of IT knowledge, but I did manage to ignite my enthusiasm for the course again and my long term dreams.

I have currently changed jobs, trying to motivate the unemployed to think about what they want to do, and I am increasing my usage of the Internet to search for suitable material. Also, I have been using the IT knowledge I do have to trouble shoot the PC's in work, on many occasions I have had to find files on a network, or change the network printer so that suitable vacancies can be printed off.

As well as my work duties, in my personal life I am the family PC fixer! When ever there is a problem with one of my family's PC's I am called upon and, even if it takes a few hours, (which my sister's wireless router did!) I stay until the job is done. Recently I have set my mother's PC back to factory settings, after my brother-in-law tried and failed. Also, my other brother-in-law continues to mess around with their printer and I am always called upon to fix it, he never admits it is him but blames the kids!!??

All in all, if it was not for Skillstrain and my course, my family would have to pay for someone to fix their PC's and printers. Especially with the useful knowledge of wireless networking, as my sister bought laptops for her two girls and my job was to go round and ensure they were able to connect to their router to access the internet. Thank you Skillstrain, maybe I should start charging my family an hourly rate and make back some of the course fees!!

I am currently approaching the end of my course, during my time with skillstrain I've learnt a great deal, computer languages were alien to me, the concept of building a web page, let alone a site was unfathomable and the speed I typed was non existant.

Now almost at the end of my training I can create javascript utilities, scratch build websites, and understand a lot more about the IT world around us. At the moment I've successfully built two full sites, have one ready to publish and a fourth is about to begin development - all four have a varied content and structure style. I am trying to launch a freelance career which will give me the flexibility to continue spending time with my 2year old daughter and allow my wife to continue with her course.

Getting to the end of the course at times has been frustrating but the satisfaction of now being involved in working on IT projects has been worthwhile, I'm looking forward to completing the course now and finally getting away from permanent night shifts!

I have just submitted another assignment of my course and my result was 89%. This has given me the incentive to continue with my coursework and each time I complete an other assignment it gives me the inspiration to learn more. The more I learn the more confidence I gain. So no matter how busy my lifestyle is I always make time to study. The most important aspect is to "Never lose sight of your goal!".

This has been a great month for me. After a break in my studies for relocating, I have got back into the swing of things, completed one section of my course (Perl) and almost completed another (Server Administration). The confidence the course has given me has led to me being in a position to launch myself officially as self-employed in the coming month, and I have quite a few potential customers lined up already. The knowledge I have gained with SkillsTrain gives me the confidence to network with potential clients and say I CAN do this.

I feel I should be considerd for this months award due to the hard work I have been putting in even though I have just had my ninth operation on my left hand so I am working one handed and the worry I have due to my daughter awaiting a heart operation which could be any time from now too August, still with all these things in my life I am still able to keep up a good standard on my work and I will be sending in Assignment 7 later this evening hoping keeping my score high. thank you for your time, Darren

Hello everyone from Skills Train. I am pretty much happy about my achievements this month because thanks to a first school in Europe at IT I was able to learn not just about the creating a web site, but as well I learned about basic networking, to understand the way it works. There is also an other thing I was able to do this month, I was able to explain to my friends at work few things about the network and the web site design. They looked pretty shocked as they seen how much a person is able to learn in sort of a course such things as using the comp at everyday basics and avoiding many errors including loosing a connection to internet and speed up the connection in such a short time. As I was searching the other courses on the Web for web site design ,I find out, that Skills Train are teaching me things, which other courses would not. Therefore I thing, that this is a sort of an achievement as well, that I chose the best course I could imagine without knowing anything about Web site design few months ago.

Finding it hard to get to grips with the course but battling through it, Everything is new to me so finding it hard to understand even the basics as I've been working in construction for many years.
My Partner Lisa and I have just had a baby girl, which was the happiest day of my life seeing her being born, God I take my hat off to all women everywhere in the world that blesses their partner with a child.
Saffron is a lovely girl, but as all new borns take a lot of caring for, I do my fair share as I love her and really want a great bond with her so I've had many sleepless nights these last 8 weeks and what with work and my studies I've felt like a walking zombie sometimes.
Doing this course and hopefully passing it with open new doors for me, as I've mostly worked overseas these last few years.
I like to be able to stay home more with my family so all the hard work will be worth every minute studying at 2am in the morning 3 hours before the alarm goes off for work.
I've managed to submit 2 TMA so far and have not cheated myself out of an honest result, and was very happy to see the questions on the first and second TMA's because at first glance I felt I knew all the answers which was a great feeling.
Oh and in addition to Saffron, work and studying we had to move home too at the start of March, which at the time felt like rubbing salt into the wounds somewhat.......All is well at home now, and really enjoying the course. thank you Skillstrain.

I have achieve a lot in the E-commerce and Project Management course, I started the course last year May and now I can do what university student can't do; I have a friend that studies computing in university and he is in year 2 he said I should help him design a website that he does not know how to design a website with the skill gained from Skill train I was able to design the website for him. I am happy that I took that bold step to Enrol on Skill train.

The website address is http://springtimeonline.com/charity/index.html

I have been able to complete section 1 - Part A in under a month with an average pass rate of 92%. This is aswell as holding down a full-time job and looking after my 4 month old baby daughter and 2 year old son. I have also passed on my new skills to my wife but unfortunately lost her to facebook where she is fully addicted

I went from going at a snails pace through this course into a man possessed and am now spending much more time on studying and taking tests. A quick look at my track record will attest that I was dragging my heels a bit at the beginning but am now powering through very quickly. In my defence, I've had 2 little daughters born in the past 2.3 years and it's been a bit busier than when we were a bit younger, hence my training for IT and Triathlons has suffered. But I feel back on track now!

Currently I'm working as night porter in hotel. There's no IT technician in my work place and if there's any problem they need to call IT vendor where its cause them a lot of money. Last week the system was slow and there's no back. I've cleaned up the disk and fragmented and also create a system back up use mirrored volume which I studied last month. The manager was very impressed and considering to change my position to IT technician and has informed that want to increase my salary. Thanks skill train as I'm improving my knowledge in computer skill.

I recently updated to mcse2003 & during the month end of February, I realised Microsoft was discontinuing support for most of the mcse2000 courses on the 31 st of March.that meant I had one month to revise before I took the 70-210 exam..I requested the revision kit which I got after 3 days, studied intensely for 3 weeks sat & passed my exam..am proud to be a Microsoft Certified Professional ID: 6132524 thanks to skills train.

After joining this course I think I have achieved a lot. I am working a full time job but still managing time for my studies. I am regularly sending my TMA's and getting good results as well. Before,I was living a normal life just working but now after introduced by this course I think that I have got something to study for my better career so I always study hard. I used to think that I can never study IT and change prospects of my life but now I even myself can't believe that I am actually doing it. My families especially my husband is very proud of me when he look my TMA results and the results also encouraging me do better better next time. I am looking forward to that day when I'll get my first job in IT. So all these things are the greatest achievements for me.
